I arrived on Saturday morning and the LED sign claimed there were 171 free spaces in the long stay car park. I drove in with a line of other cars and proceeded to drive around in circles failing to find any free space anywhere which took quite a long time as the exit queue was blocking up part of the car park and causing queues down the lanes. Eventually I gave up and joined the exit queue which took me well over the free 20 minutes. The reason being that all the other cars waiting to get out had also been forced over the free 20 minutes and were now arguing with the support line that they weren't going to pay a fee to get out. When I reached the barrier the support line was busy as someone at another barrier was having this argument so I sat there holding up the rest of the queue. Once the other lane were let out I managed to get through to the operator who let me out without any argument must have had enough complaints at this point. They get 2 stars for having the sense not to argue but surely their high-tech barriers should be able to know when the car park is full!
Situated close to the town centre, Peterborough train station is well planned, with clearly marked signs and directions to specified platforms. There are ramps and elevators on the platforms making heavy luggage or wheelchairs less of a hassle getting between platforms. There are also several shops to buy coffees, teas and snacks, and a fiat amount of seating. Taxis are available immediately outside the station entrance and there is also plenty of parking. Ticket collection machines and a couple of help desks are also available.
During the pandemic, digital signs thanking key workers for their efforts. Car park was 99 percent empty every day. Free parking for key workers perhaps? Not on your life.
Excellent value for money car parking. Pay when you return to collect vehicle.
Large car park with plenty of spaces. Weekend rate of £12 was very reasonable and paid online in advance. On the way out the machines wouldn't let me out. I phoned the support line and they told me to press the support button to which nobody answered or came to help. After 15 minutes of not being able to get out the car park I paid again luckily nobody else wanted to exit. LNER emailed for a refund but haven't heard anything in over 25 days. Not sure if it was just because it was a Sunday or the machines didn't like the hot sun and couldn't read my QR but really poor experience.
Very busy and chaotic when I went. It is covered in tarmac though and has pretty white lines painted on it so that's a positive.
20 mins free, but then £3 for 60 mins.
What on earth have they done to the drop off and pick up area? Turned almost the whole area into disabled parking, which I understand is needed, but it is almost always completely empty. I have to drop and collect my son once or twice a week and now have stop quickly on double yellows if I’m dropping off, or just keep driving round and round if I’m picking up, otherwise I have to pay £2 to park for five minutes. Really poor planning.
Best if a bad bunch too expensive really.but felt safer than others
Drop off area review - Amble free parking for a quick drop off, restricted to 20 minutes but somewhat busy with numerous taxis hanging around outside of the designated area. Plus since the redesign of the parking area it's chaotic when dropping off someone at busy times definitely a case of "if it's not broken don't fix it !!"
