We had to book late and luckily got a room at a very good price. Booked in late about 8:50 asked if they are still doing food.. The chef had just started his clean down but kindly said if we are quick he will do us. Some food great customer service. Quickly put bags in room so we can eat and we were not disappointed lovely food fresh and perfectly cooked. I had been to the Brunel a few years back, but this time was different they have had a great referb, the whole of the pub down stairs and all of the rooms, no expense spared, all areas done to a high spec. The new Manager and staff were very accommodating and friendly, they had some live music on, and if you would rather watch the football the pub is big enough to accommodate both and an area if you just want a quiet drink and a chat. Good selection of beers and ales, excellent gin selection 40+ I believe, also a good wine selection with a local vineyards wine included. A big car park and a seating area outside. All in all a great place to pop in for a pint and a bite to eat but also a lovely place to stay overnight!! My only reason for four stars was that there was no cooked breakfast available just tea/coffee, toast and jam along with cereal, a good breakfast would have made the stay complete and worthy of 5*. But still I highly recommend that you choose this place to stay if in the area.

Had a lovely lunch today. The seafood linguine was delicious. No shortage of seafood! Will have the same next week as we have chosen it as our regular meet venue. The chef also came to have a chat after the rush which was nice. Latest meal on Sunday , the belly pork was delicious with the best crackling.

Brunel rooms are clean tidy and spacious, comfy bed and enough furniture in the room without it being overbearing. They have en suite bathrooms. Staff were friendly and the noise wasn't too invasive considering if was a Saturday night. Fine for a few nights stay and close to public transport and local amenities.

The food is just fantastic. Accomodation is cheap and comfortable. Higly recommended placed. Definitely will stay here again.
