Welcoming pub/restaurant with good menu. Waitress needed a little more training as she forgot to tell us about the soup of the day or the specials. She was also not very well informed about the choice of beers. Almost empty which was a surprise considering this was a Friday evening. Only one other party was dining in the large restaurant area although there seemed to be a few regulars drinking at the bar. Although in good decorative order and dressed for Christmas the place needed a change in lighting to be cosy and would clearly benefit from a real fire. Discrete background music would help to encourage conversation. When it came the food was tasty and in good portions and represented reasonable value for money. Some dishes proudly proclaimed themselves to be home made whereas others were bought in from the wholesalers and reheated. Good pub grub - definitely expect to go again.

Stayed overnight here in December, as we needed somewhere close to HMS Raleigh for our Son's passing out parade. Rooms are very basic but clean, although the smell of cooking fats fills the place. We decided not to eat in as the menu was limited and felt the offerings were over priced. There are various restaurants and take aways near by to suit most tastes. We had Breakfast there as it was in with the price, but it was not all that. All in all, they need to either give you more for your money or lower the prices. We used this place as a one night bed stop to be honest, if you are thinking of staying for more than one night then I suggest looking elsewhere.

Just had a lovely steak meal for 2 with a bottle of wine! £20 and I was very impressed ! A large meal and wine was nice! Recommend u to try!! Great value for money thank u for it hospitality carbeile .😁

Nice but impersonal pub. Great Sunday carvery. Children friendly.

Well priced and tasty food with a carvery, the decor is a bit dated but it's a nice atmosphere for kids and has a kids play area and climbing frame out the back. Worth it just for the carvery and prices are reasonable.
