Went here at 12pm just as it opened. Inside its very existence is stuck in the past but that is what gives it its charm. Basically mostly used by the locals. I had a Sunday roast here a few weeks back and enjoyed it. So thought I would try it again. One thing I can say is that the meal is consistent in providing home cooked food. Once again I enjoyed it. Plus there are different portion sizes depending on how hungry you are. The only thing having a Sunday roast and half a bitter shandy is trying to walk back up that steep hill back to my place of residence. The lovely attentive lady who served me told me a more scenic route to get back to the village. Across the fields. A much more pleasant trek after such a nice meal. I will definitely be attending here again. The only negative thing is the toilets could do with a clean and an update.
Absolutely the archetypal country local. Friendly customers and staff - was immediately made to feel part of the family. Good beer, the food looked great - will definitely return when I have the chance.Service: 5/5
Friendly local pub, run by helpful landlady. Good food on food days, relaxed atmosphere, local ales and hot drinks.Food: 4/5
Didn't have any food as we were on our way back from a lovely pizza in the car park of the Portreath Arms. Definitely next time. But the atmosphere and friendliness of everyone was great!Service: 5/5
Lovely staff and locals and a good pint too. Very dog friendly, ours was made very welcome in and outdoors. Grassy beer garden to the back of the car park Thanks for having us!
What a dump. Reeked of damp. Toilets green with algae and clearly hadn't been cleaned for years. No lager on draft although pumps were there. So bad we just laughed for one drink only!Atmosphere: 1/5
One of the best pubs I've ever visited. Friendly owners, always happy to accommodate. Great Sunday Roast Good Ales & Ciders Thank you for looking after us during our stay in Bridge
SMALL country pub, no TV, no music but there was a dartboard. Like stepping in to the past. The owners were running it the night I went usually it's their daughter and son in law in and there was just them and my party. It was great to get away from the youth filled noisy pubs of the city and find somewhere relaxing. If you're looking for something busier there are other pubs in Portreath but this is just across the road from the cottage I rented so was easy to walk in and stumble out.
Popped in for "a swift half" which is what village pubs are great for. Friendly bar staff but as pub quite empty, the 3 or 4 locals propping up the bar were noticeable in discomfort at having "strangers" arrive! Good idea for them to serve baby bottles of wine so I didnt have to worry how long an open bottle had been hanging around for.
Had the pleasure of staying across the road to this great pub during July 2012 wonderful selection of beers and the food was fantastic excellent selection. Kids were welcome at the pub and many board games available for all to enjoy. Cant wait till December for our return visit.
