We came for Father’s Day dinner with our children. We don’t eat out very often so this was a treat. The food was average, the carvery was okay but quite dry and some of the veg was too solid. Our main disappointment was the service. We booked for 16:30 and upon booking through their website, it notifies you that this is a 2 hour time slot. Some of us ordered a carvery and some from the A La Carte menu. Our food took an hour to come in the first instance but I understood that it was busy. Myself and my daughter then took our tickets up to the carvery stations, however, it took us 25 minutes to get through the queue. Once we were able to get back to sit down with our food, my husband swapped ready to get his carvery meal. His queue was much shorter and he was back to the table in about 5 minutes. However, no less than two minutes after he had sat down to eat his meal did the waitress approach our table to ask whether we knew that we had a time slot. This was at 17:45!!! She stated we needed to be out in 15 minutes. I stated we had booked for 16:30 so we had until 18:30. She said she would go and speak to her manager. She then came back to the table and stated that her manager had said no we have to be done by 18:00. I again explained that our two hour time slot wasn’t up until 18:30 and my husband wanted dessert for his Father’s Day meal. She again stated she would go back to her manager. She came back to the table and said this is okay, we have from 4-6 but we could stay as to not upset us!!!!nIn the end we left after we had finished eating our main meal and did not stay for dessert out of principle. This is the hospitality sector and we did not feel that this service was very hospitable at all! To be made to feel like this on a rare evening out is unacceptable and we will not be returning.
A mixed experience. The photos and description are a bit misleading - the photographer did an excellent job! This is a renovated roadside restaurant / fish and chip shop, with 12 rooms above. The customer service is very good. The renovation is good. The rooms are OK but there's a lot of noise from the busy main road till late and then again from early morning. The mattresses were very squishy and soft. The views at the front are of the car park and road, at back are of an industrial space with very bright security lighting all night. The main access doors are noisy and make the bedroom doors bang also, so pray for early sleepers. The end room over the restaurant gets noise from the swing doors below. The restaurant food is quantity over flavour and mostly fried - not bad but very oily. A clean basic place for easy touring but not relaxing.
11 of us went for an evening meal yesterday. A lovely welcoming by all staff. Very clean. Food was hot, well presented and all 11 dishes came out together.nTotally recommend 100%. We will be coming back. Thank you
Haven't been to this restaurant for over 20 years. The updates are excellent and it's a lovely restaurant with lots of parking. The food choices are good and service is happy and friendly. Drinks and orders taken quickly. Sadly my wife's steak was over cooked but they took it away and re-did the steak. Unfortunately the chips can back cold. They did give her a free drink and took 10% of bill.nOverall very impressive and food tasted good and will be returning.
Best carvery in the the entire world. Ever! Don't let the exterior fool you, it's a bit vintage looking but the friendly service makes it a great stop..and did I mention the carvery!
