Burnt, tasteless food; poor food - chips inedible; poor service. We booked lunch to celebrate an 86th birthday and were very disappointed. Reputation better than it deserves- shame.

Had a nice Sunday lunch, I ordered the gnocchi (vegetarian) and my portion was a lot less generous than everyone else who ordered roast or burger, which were very good portions (though not enough gravy). Quality was fine and it's a charming venue, full of curios, bare beams, an open fire and what looked like a nice outdoor area if the weather had been better!

Awful service. Took over an hour and a half for 2 sandwiches, fish and chips and ham and eggs. Brought out meat sandwich for a vegetarian (despite us confirming this more than once). Slightly rude, utterly confused and unapologetic staff. I was actually shocked at how bad this was.
