Couldn't give an opinion on this establishment as it's the first time we've been and were unable to get a table to eat - which was our intention. It does look nice and comes highly recommended - and the views are incredible. We're definitely going to go back but will make sure we book a table in advance. I know it's Good Friday, but the fact it's booked up completely for the night must say something!!?? Will go back and when we do, I'll update this review accordingly
Absolutely delicious food. The prices are a bit more expensive than your usual pub but I would say it’s definitely worth it. The view is absolutely amazing and during sunset it’s even lovelier. They have house specials and the starters are all to be recommended. The portion sizes are quite big and the drinks are bigger than at other pubs it felt like. Overall it was a lovely experience and we are definitely going to come here more often with the family
One of the best cheese and onion pies I’ve had in a pub. and I’ve tried a few! My husband had the burger. Bun was abit stale Kids meals were fresh & a good size. Staff lovely, especially Emma. Thanks again we will be back!
The rag pudding was phenomenal, and the chocolate fudge cake was melt in the mouth. I also really enjoyed the slush strawberry daquiri. Lovely little place with very tasty food
Food looks amazing doesn't it? But it wasn't. The lasagne tasted like water, the chips had black bits in and the peas were overcooked and dry as was the cheese pie and wait for it - the cheesy garlic bread tasted of lamb fat - cross contamination? Made me feel ill. I wouldn't even feed it my dogs it was that bad. And as we walked out Guess what sign we saw - chef required
Struggled for seating at first but wasn't a huge issue whilst having a seasonal mulled wine looking out at the view of the snowy hills. The lovely lady behind the bar was able to help my fussy foodie friend and told us straight away when a table was available. The food was top notch. Cheese and onion pie was lovely! And loved the salad, it had a nice mustard dressing with some yummy roasted peppers which was yummy. Loved that furry friends are allowed too
First time here and I can see why the locals love it.Large car park straight off the road, then in to the bar.Greeted by friendly staff, who told us our table was just being cleaned and would we like a drink from the bar.Good selection of beers and my daughter said the slushy cocktails were fantastic. Sat down with our drinks and looked at the menus. The mixed grill was very good,as was the rag pudding. The vegan 5 bean chilli I was told was plentyfull and flavoursome. The sweet menu will have to wait as we were all full, maybe next time.We will definitely return and a big thank you to all the staff who were very patient and accommodating, well done.
Food was fantastic service a little slow and had to ask as they forgot peas for 2 meals and sauce for one steak. Also no black sheep no bottled coke and no San Miguel non alcoholic as well as no salmon on the menu.
My friend and I chose the Black Ladd to meet for lunch today as we had heard from many people how good it was. We were not disappointed. I was immediately impressed by how many people in the bar were saying how much they were enjoying their food. My friend chose lamb shank and I chose fish and chips. The chips were chunky and cooked to perfection. My friend kept saying how delicious her lamb was. I’m so happy she was so pleased as she has been to a few pubs for lunch recently and the food was pricey and small portions. The portions at The Black Ladd were impressive and we agreed that the meal was good value for money. An added bonus is the view from the pub. You could sit there for ages and never get bored of the view, it was amazing. The pub was clean throughout. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. There was a real fire going in the bar which smelt lovely - brought back memories of my grandparents’ home. We shall definitely be returning to eat very soon.
Just dropped in on an off chance. What a gem of a place. Cosy home cooked traditional food very tasty defo return and highly recommended. Clean, efficient, friendly atmosphere
