Just like to say that we always call in to The Black Horse for a meal on returning home from a rather long journey. We have always been very warmly welcomed with good hearty food and ambience. I am certain this emanates from good management by Leigh. Well Done, Leigh! I don't know Leigh, just asked for her name yesterday when we called in to The Black Horse on New Year's Day without a reservation.

Nice menu, good ingredients. Lovely old pub. It was Sunday and busy and they were turning walk-ups away so you probably need to book. Staff were helpful, I'll be going back soon.

Fabulous venue, historic but homely. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Food a bit variable. Some items e.g. pies were really good, but hunters chicken very dry and not please try. Difficult to complain when you are part of a group with someone else paying. Quality control lacking.

We wanted to treat our oldest employee and his family. We booked 10 days in advance and the person who was booking us in quibbled about us not coming 15 minutes early. It took one hour and 25 minutes to get our starters. The main course also took ages and we sat around with our uncleared plates for two a half hours.

Good pub and restaurant. Pretty much standard Vintage Inn style. Good menu, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Worth a visit
