Not the old boozer it used to be, The Bear has been substantially rebuilt and is now a modern pub/restaurant serving bistro-style food. Mostly given to dining, the interior is bright and spacious and the terraces at the front are excellent for enjoying a meal in the Surrey sunshine! Reasonable prices for reasonable food.

A mixed bag. The waiting staff were very welcoming, friendly etc. However, the day we went, there was a high volume of people. There was a long wait for food with me being overlooked whilst everyone was eating. It wasn’t until it was mentioned that they brought it. Vegetables were very nice, but the chicken and Yorkshire pudding were dry and over cooked... as were the potatoes. There was not enough gravy. We asked for more gravy, it took a while to come. To be honest, even when that arrived, there were four very small pots of it between 13 of us. I think if food is overcooked and dry, you can cope better if there is plenty of gravy. I think the main issue is the overcooking of food. It probably wouldn’t take much to correct that, and just more gravy in one or two big gravy boats. The dessert I had was very nice, a crumble with ice cream.

Nice friendly pub, great food, child friendly without imposing on adult space. Clean toilets. Comfy, homely and well worth a visit.
