Story

As the warmer days and longer nights coax us out, The Beacon Hotel Ember Inn is drawing in the social crowd that really enjoys drinking and eating out in Whitley Bay. We're famous around Tynemouth, Earsdon and North Shields for our cask conditioned ales, wines, soft drinks and fresh coffees, which all complement our superb value, seasonal pub-food menu.

You'll enjoy a warm welcome too at our regular pub quiz, weekly themed Meal & A Drink Offer Nights and occasional seasonal Cask Ale festivals where you can try our ales before you buy and even request to have your favourite cask put on behind the bar

The Beacon is part of the Ember Inns group of pubs and restaurants. A good wide range of beers, ales, wines and spirits are available and a friendly welcome always awaits from the staff. Food is also available, which I'd describe as pub food standard - served hot and fresh - but very similar to other venues of this type. Standard desserts supplied by mass catering companies, and not home made - but reasonable value. This venue gets very busy, and so you may wish to consider reservations or being prepared to wait for food orders.

Nice atmosphhere. Only bought a Pepsi, planned on food but there where absolutely no vegan options to note. Staff friendly though.

Unfortunately, the baked potato with cheese and coleslaw had very little cheese and was a bit undercooked. The accompanying salad looked a bit sad. Something must have been wrong with the coffee machine as our cappuccino's tasted only of hot milk. The waitress did promise it would be better at our next visit and refunded us, but it was disappointing. It was a shame as I had previously had a lovely meal there and the surroundings are nice if a little cold. Maybe it was just an off day, and I would visit again.
