Not a bad pub, and the drinks have improved recently and that are now cask marked. Tried the two draft beers and they were canny; well kept. Didn't eat but the snack roast tatties and gravy smelled lovely.Little out the way but worth a look if you are passing.
Didn't eat here but visited for the first time in Oct 23. Nice experience until i got a £100 fine fir parking out front. Apparently you have to register at the bar, we had no idea! I refused to pay Civil Enforcement Ltd as I could prove that we had been in the pub through our receipts. They refused to rescind the fine. Now they want to go to court. I don't know how a local business can operate in this way. We live locally but I won't be back, absolutely livid! UPDATE the owners have intervened and resolved the situation for which I am grateful. As such the rating is now solely based on my experience in the pub
Went for mother's day....what a disappointment.had to wait an hour for food.when it came order was wrong.when I mentioned it I was told " that's what was written on the check". We didn't want to wait any longer as my mother is 84.also broccoli was undercooked.no- one came to check on us till we were nearly finished.were gonna hav sweets but god knows how long that wud hav taken so didn't bother. There were plenty of empty tables and plenty of bar staff so obvs the problem is in the kitchen.
I've always liked this pub ever since I used to live in Whitley lodge many moons ago. It's still a lovely pub...I was here on the 29th of October 2023 for my daughter's 31st birthday. I drove over and parked in the pubs own car park. I had a lovely 3 hours there before leaving and headed off to work as I was working night shift that night. I've just received a parking charge for a hundred pounds...apparently I hadn't put my car registration in a machine they have in the bar I had no idea I had to I'm expecting another one to come through as my son wanted to test drive my new car so he left in my car then came back in to park in the same space before I eventually left for work. It's really hard to see this as anything less than a "money grab" and I'm fuming that we as a family spent around a hundred pounds that evening and I'm going to be stung for another £60-£100 maybe x2?
Popped in for a pint. Received a £100 parking fine. Will be telling everyone I know to avoid the place Parking: Terrible, avoid this place
My husband and I have been here a few times and we were both very impressed. The staff are lovely and friendly very welcoming they have always checked if the food is ok did we need anything else ie sauces or more gravy and then enjoy. We have had the Sunday lunch a few times and have tried the beef, turkey & gammon, and the pork with the crispy bits very yummy.Enjoy we did every time we have been the food been wonderful cooked perfectly. You get a good portion the meat is not skimped it’s thick enough to be able too taste what you are eating and meat is lovely and tender and you also have a nice choice and the amount of lovely fresh vegetables with a nice gravy not forgetting the Yorkshire pudding. The food is delicious. Will see you again soon. Thank you so much. Christine.
Lovely establishment with great food. And plenty gluten free choices for my wife. Cant fault this place it's great nice staff
Pub with a good relaxing vibe on a Sunday night. Poor no wheelchair access reduces the marks!Service: 3/5
Avoid this place. Stopped off food to find a notice on the door saying not serving food today, so got back in the car to go somewhere else. 3 weeks down the line get a parking charge of £140. Will not ever come here againFood: 1/5
Food was nice and good value, we got the Sunday lunch and everything was very fresh and seemed pre prepared not out a bag!!! Service for food about 30 mins, but worth the wait I would say. Will come backFood: 4/5
