The staff is helpful and nice, the food is decent, the rooms are great, the prices are genuine for the location, the observatory has great equipment, demonstrators and specimens to see, however, the sky still has some light pollution from the village nearby as the hotel is on the very edge of the dark sky controlled zone but not exactly in it... You can still see some spectacular views of the night sky bur i think it still needs to be a bit darker to observe the milky way.. Overall our experience was great.. Make sure you do book an event with the observatory.. :D

Absolutely fantastic service from the whole team; we felt like warmly welcomed locals when dining or drinking in the comfortable bar area. Table service was better than some of the high end restaurants we've eaten in before! Great access to areas of natural beauty, and we loved the focus on being environmentally friendly and serving local food and drink. The lady at the bar was very knowledgeable about all types of gin available, hic! The only missing star is down to the bathroom in our suite. It didn't seem to be of the same standard as the bedroom and felt more like a caravan bathroom. Otherwise, a fabulous place to stay and relax with good food and good drinks!

A fantastic place to visit. The tasting menu is extremely good, and a stretch to finish. It is also stunning value. The A la carte menu is also very good and good value. Staff were both very pleasant and very competent. Best service we have had for a while and friendly, not at all stiff and formal. We also went stargazing at the hotel's own observatory, which was wonderful and quite eye-opening in all the best ways. As it was December, it was very cold, but there is a heated room with hot drinks to dive into. Good explanations about what to see on an excellent telescope plus powerful binoculars to use while waiting you turn at the scope - it was surprising how much you could see with the binoculars. We had a great time - thoroughly recommended.

Fabulous hotel, friendly staff, excellent food. Second visit and will definitely stay again. So many walks in this area and great birdlife

A fantastic place to stay. Really pleasant staff, amazing lodges and above all the food is First Class. Also visited the observatory on site, and it's well recommend. A big thanks to Chris Duffy from AstroVentures who was our host at our stargazing night. Thank you! Needles to say the attached review speaks for itself.
