Fantastic meal at Lal Khazana. We've seen the great reviews and thought we'd try it for ourselves and we weren't disappointed! We booked a table, which is advisable as the restaurant was busy. We had the Sabzi Khazana Platter for Two starter veggie which was gorgeous. This was followed by a Vegetable Bengali Garlic and a Vegetable Bindiya, these were two of the nicest curries we've ever had. Service was fast, friendly and efficient and we were made to feel very welcome indeed. We'll certainly be back next time we're in Northumberland. A hidden gem. Vegetarian options: Great veggie options
Me and 2 others were happy to find a table here late sunday. We all enjoyed food, it is of a very good quality and generous amount. Some dishes we haven't tried before. The jug of mango lassi is well worth its price. I loved the mushroom rice. Funny, but it went well with the spicy hot fish. One of us liked the restaurant, but also wondered the rating at nearly perfect 5 is too high. So, on a critical note, maybe the design can be improved a bit adding style to the place. At the moment it is an indian barn, beams and chandeliers. All very clean and tidy though. Also, whoever supervises the waiters could maybe make sure some are not too much in visitors face ours was ok, just a bit curious, but some were loudly making friends with a couple of tables. But maybe it is the character of this restaurant, they are making friends.
Now then... I was not expecting this here... sort of like an amazing city restaurant has been zapped by Doctor Who's screwdriver and ended up in this tiny village. I was staying nearby and found this place online after reading acouple of reviews I thought I'd try it out. Honestly because of how remote you are I wasn't really expecting much and was utterly blown away by the quality and taste of the food. I ordered Bengali Garlic chicken which was rich and flavoursome with large cooked chunks of garlic. No vampires will be anywhere near me tonight. As I was very hungry I got a couple of side dishes and a nan. The Begun and Bhindi Bhaji were amazing and the stand out dishes for me on my order. I ate it so fast I couldn't even think about getting any decent food shots sorry about that. I did fly my drone in the car park to take a shot of the restaurant and the sunset so these pictures will have to do. If like me you love tasty Indian food and are anywhere nearby I couldn't reccomend it enough. A diamond of a place in the strangest location. Enjoy! Vegetarian options: I had the Bhindi Bhaji and the Begun Aubergine both dishes were sublime highly reccomened.... Parking: Great secure on site parking next to the entrance. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access from the car park straight into the restaurant.

Very very very tasty food and very nice staff. An amazing place, out of nowhere, located close to the highway. Amazing. 100% recomand
We had the good fortune of deciding to try this restaurant whilst in the area on a short break. WOW the food is fantastic quality, brilliant service levels and unbelievably good value for money. We will return whenever we are in the area, and my daughter is even asking if we can just drive up from Durham for a meal. The food is that good we may even do that! Thank you for a great evening
Little gem in a quiet spot, but one of the best Indians around. We love it. We've been here a few times and on every occasion the food has been lovely. The service is first class. If you are looking for exceptional tasty food with great service and good value for money I would certainly recommend this little gem.
Absolutely outstanding! My first experience in this restaurant and it was fantastic. Booked for my birthday on Sept 26th and the staff went above and beyond with table birthday confetti and even a little dessert with a candle - they came out singing happy birthday and my husband didn’t even arrange this, they just did it without us asking which was so lovely. Food was absolutely delicious, fast service and the atmosphere was relaxing. We will without a doubt be back! 5*
Lovely food for a good price and super service Food: 5/5
We had dinner here tonight. The last time we were here was about 5 years ago. I'm pleased to say nothing has changed. The greeting, service and the food all very good indeed. We will be in the area for a couple of months and will be regulars here. We tried the 10 chilli dip with the papads and wow its very keen. We shared a starter of fishcakes which was very nice more than enough to share. My wife had handi for the main and I had madras both excellent. Bit the star of the show was the humble tarka dhall. It was very, very good indeed. The guys all made us feel very welcome. We will be back soon.
