Definitely recommend it. They have a large collection, many famous artists. The staff is friendly. Nevertheless there is clearly room for improvement. The fact that many artworks are hanging tilted, not straight, that the light reflects on the frame window… not ideal. They could definitely also make it more interactive. Still a must see if you can especially as it’s free and not crowded so you can really wander around peacefully.
Friendly staff greeted us as we entered the gallery and explained the contents of the exhibitions. Upon entering, I was amazed by the amount of exhibits for a gallery that seemed quite small from the outside. Plenty of descriptions next to the paintings, too, for those who want to know more about what they're looking at like me! Well worth a visit. Could easily spend a couple hours here.
I recently went to the Barber Late with some friends, we had the best evening trailing around the galleries and enjoyed the DJ and crafts on offer! We especially loved our impromptu tour from Simon! :Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
First time back since the refurbishment - and the Barber did not disappoint. The exhibitions have glorious examples from 400 years of art, without being overwhelming in number. The special exhibition are well worth a look too. And, as always the people there are very friendly and knowledgeable.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The all star collection is perfectly complemented by the incredible staff whose passion and enthusiasm to engage you with the art is infectious Thank you again to Patrick and Simon for bringing it all alive. Appropriate for all ages it’s the perfect size to allow one to study all details without getting overwhelmed or bored for the younger crowd. My brother and I 19, 22 couldn’t have imagined a more enjoyable morning.
Lovely place to spend an hour. Small but excellent collection of artwork including Rosetti, Reddon, Money, Bellini and many more. Scrumptious stairway. Lovely staff as well. Charming free place to visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
My brother and I went both students expecting 5 minutes of good art, got at least an hour of masterpieces and a well curated collection. The staff were also all very friendly and eager to tell you about hidden facts of the paintings. No-Brainer to go here, especially if you are a UOB student.
A sublime art gallery and collection. I suspect completely under appreciated and consequently under visited. Staff are just lovely. A total gem and worth it just for the Veronese!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
A secret gem of an art gallery with world class paintings. Free to entry on Birmingham University campus. No restaurant, but a well stocked self service snack bar and coffee machine with plenty of seating throughout the lovely galleries . Enjoy an hour or so
I’m 22 and really enjoyed this. A great selection of art and lovely staff. Ask for Simon as he knows so much about the art and will happily give you a little tour!
