Came here to the Victorian Radicals exhibition a few weeks ago. A very unassuming building from the outside but was very spacious inside and the exhibition was very well set out. Good value too, £11, I’m used to paying premium rates in London for exhibitions!
I enjoyed the artworks and was pleased to see the original William Morris patterned fabrics. It was a beautiful exhibition however I took one star off my review due to the gift shop being very little and having no items related to the exhibit.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Only went to the exhibition since the main museum is still closed, but it was really good. It was a nicely done exhibition, with audio guide provided to everyone. There wasn’t many people which was great. Price is a little bit too much for what it’s worth thoVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This museum is bigger than it looks. I've seen plenty of archaeology and art, so I decided to start in the Birmingham history part of the museum first and found myself still there after an hour and a half. Definitely the place to go to get a good bit of local history, covering the city's history from medieval times through it's industrial past, through pre-modern to the present. I didn't have much time to visit the other parts of the museum, but I did notice that the archaeological sections were not extensive. That is except for the Staffordshire Hoard exhibition which is dedicated to the Anglo-Saxon hoard discovered in 2009. Some of the over 3000 items are on display and are absolutely stunning.
This is a beautiful place to visit clean, spotless, towels changed, staff lovely, food excellent choices entertainment good ,we would like to go back only one thing to be aware of mosquitoes take a plug in for your room but that as nothing to do with this beautiful placeVisited onPublic holidayWait timeNo wait
Magnificent building inside out. Fantastic museum with so many things to see at any given time. It has access to toilets and displays a mixture of ancient and modern art, but the most impressive and fascinating pieces are the Victorian Art Paintings and the Dutch Golden Age paintings and Renaissance art. I visited this place multiple times over the years and can confidently say the place is still worth visiting despite the budget cuts and newly introduced tickets. Book in advance to avoid visiting during partial opening seasons due to maintenance work.
The Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery BMAG is a major cultural institution located in the heart of Birmingham. It boasts an extensive and diverse collection, including fine art, historical artifacts, and archaeological treasures. Highlights include an impressive array of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, ancient Egyptian artifacts, and decorative arts. The museum's grand architecture complements its rich exhibits, offering visitors an engaging journey through art and history. BMAG serves as a key cultural destination, enriching the local community and attracting art and history enthusiasts from around the world.
Took my daughter to see an exhibition to be honest I can’t remember what it was but I was intrigued. The process of buying tickets online and the set up inside was impressive. It was nice to get a bit cultured so to speak and I’d like to go back again for future presentations. Ideally situated within the heart of the city with transport links giving easy access you can’t complain. Definitely a nice place and would recommend to visit if you have the chance
The main museum is still closed but we visited the Gas Hall to see the Victorian Radicals exhibition. How wonderful. Such amazing skills. You have to pay in advance and book a timed entry.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Visited the Victorian Radicals exhibition. Admission was pushing it a bit at £11 for one gallery and no coffee shop. That said the staff were lovely and exhibition was enjoyable.
