The Anchor
"A welcoming and informal bar in a student area, open from breakfast ?til the early hours. A great place to relax, meet new friends and join in activities such as quizzing and retro-gaming. It is also an ideal place to watch the big games on TV whilst eating and drinking from street food influenced menus"

Good pub! Student nights, and wing wednesday!! The wings are actually really good, and they’re 30p a wing! Love it! Craig is the best bartender, love that guy, always looks after his guests and he pours a good pint!
Came into the pub, lovely atmosphere brilliant food and drinks. Our waiter Chloe was super friendly and really made our visit, need more waitresses like this. Definitely will be coming back!!
Did not have a pleasant experience here. Has a student feel with sticky floor and was full of drunk men barging into us. DJ came on far too early at 8pm playing music so loud we couldn’t even have a conversation. Also the toilets are up steep stairs with a foul smelling carpet. Much better pubs to go to on Gloucester Road.
The bartender was unexpectedly and unnecessarily rude to us. From the instant we got in he acted aggressively, and made it feel very uncomfortable. Never experienced a bartender be so rude.
Absolutely Amazing Pub, Helpful Bar Staff, Friendly and Amicable, would Certainly recommend anyone who would be interested in going there for a Meal, Drink etc!!!
I went here for lunch today with my son and couldn't have wished for a better experience. The chap behind the bar was very friendly. We ordered our food and drink... I had southern fried chicken wrap and a very large hot chocolate and my son had the veggie all day breakfast and a pint of diet coke. There was some sort of lunch deal on and it came to around £14.60 which I thought was good. The food came out in roughly ten minutes and was amazing! There was a relaxed atmosphere here with soft music playing. Thete are various tv screens around showing sport but no volume. We had nearly opted for one of the trendy coffee shops down the Gloucester road but I'm so glad we decided on here. I'll definately go back. I'd like to try some of the big choice of ciders there too at some point. I was particularly impressed that they have a no straw rule reducing.plastic waste too. See my photos too ..
Was visiting family and had the most pleasant experience at The Anchor. Made even better by our waitress Lilly, who couldn't do enough for us. Will definately be back and hope that lilly will be on hand
A reasonable sports bar on the Gloucester Road. A bit noisy outside the front due to busy road. A welcome relief from the warm day. Reasonable selection of drinks and prices reflect the area. Food selection look reasonable too but can't really comment as we only went for beers. Nice friendly staff.
Lilly really cool hair was great! Thanks for some great food, drinks and great service!
Really nice meal, food was tasty and the atmosphere was really nice. Our waitress Chloe was also so friendly, definitely will be returning!
