It's an old traditional pub located in Clifton village. We went for a lunch on Saturday with friends and everyone had a nice time. They have limited food options, but the quality of food is on the spot. We had calamari and spicy chicken wings for starter and fish and chips as a main. There is no doubt food is good and service is good. However, we did feel like staffs were on a rush and keep coming to check if we are ready to order. Pros: Ambience, food and drinks Cons: Seating could have been improved.
Love love love this place! I had the battered haddock and it was literally the best fish and chips I have ever had. My friend had the steak and she said it was excellent. For dessert we shared an amazing sticky toffee pudding - it was heavenly. They have a good selection of beers and ciders and the service was outstanding.
Amazing food, staff and atmosphere! We came here for a light bite and a few drinks on a Saturday night. The staff were so accommodating and friendly, also very attentive! The food was incredible We had the fish sharing platter and it was so tasty and great value for money. We followed this with the brownie recommended by the waitress, it did not disappoint! The place it’s self is really relaxing and with a great atmosphere. Even the bouncers were polite and attentive, this is always a nice bonus. I can’t wait to return here again!
Lovely pub, probably the best roast dinner I have had for years, recommended the pork cracking and apple sauce starter we shared between 2. Beer was good, staff very nice, all round good experience.
The reason for the poor marks here is not the staff, nor the lovely time we had. It's because this pub has changed for the worse. The owners have taken away the soul of the pub. You can no longer get a beer at the bar and the lack of people at the bar removes all of the pubs atmosphere. They have clearly replaced this with added dining places. They also have a fake fire and to add insult to injury, a load of firewood that cannot be used! There is also a sign saying "men to the left, the women are always right". When you add this to the removed atmosphere, its not very funny.
We were picking up friends from Bristol Airport so booked a table here for Sunday lunch. Food was great. We both had the pork which was really good. However our visit could have been better. On arrival we were taken to a table at the back that was squeezed next to a large family group enjoying their lunch. We asked to be moved to a table that was a little less close to people however this was refused as this table was reserved. The table we sat on had no reserved sign on it although we had booked four days previously and they had our booking in their book. The empty table next to us stayed empty for the hour we were there only being taken as we left. I know the pub was busy but they could of seated us at the table we had reserved.
We stopped for lunch on a slight detour to Bristol airport. Parking close to the restaurant was difficult though we eventually found a pay and display ring go spot very close by. Two of us ordered the chicken burger as recommended by the excellent young waiter its table service only the other friend ordered the burger, the chicken is a Brest filet will nice trimmings and a piece of bacon the bacon was back bacon but cooked burnt in way that’s perfectly fine with streaky but doesn’t work with back it was inedible and I removed it.the chicken itself was charred and cooked to a dried out, over chewy, state the beef burger was okay but no more than that. The website says that they have dog treats the waiter was unaware of that but went away to ask, he came back to tell us there are no dog biscuits but that they could supply pork crackling which the dog loved. In summary I will try again if in the area the service was very good from the young guys trying very hard, the ambiance is nice the food was ways from expectations as it was all extremely over cooked
Two meals here over three days. Sharing boards are amazing and the roast on Sunday superb. As we had been let down on our reservation around the corner at The Clifton Sausage the Albion stepped up and we were delighted that we ended up there instead.
Lovely pub in a hidden corner of Clifton Village which is a solid choice if you're looking for a cosy atmosphere. It's a bit a of a yuppie pub and £5.40 for a pint of Korev but that's to be expected given the location. Haven't been here for food but always smells delicious! They have a great range of lagers and ales too.
Lovely pub in Clifton village. Nicely decorated old fashioned Inn with log burners. Unfortunately and annoyingly they have a ridiculous table service rule which means you can't order at the bar......even though it was virtually empty and they make a big fuss which tables they want you to sit at! Shame.
