We had a lovely stay at The Abbey Inn, lovely surroundings and fantastic views from our bedroom window of the river running alongside the pub. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food and drink were great, we had an evening meal, which although a little pricey (it was freshly cooked though), was excellent, we all enjoyed our meals thoroughly. The rooms were clean and tidy, all had TV and toilet/shower room. Ours had a four poster bed, which was nice. Breakfast too was nice with full English or lighter bite options. All in all an enjoyable stay and very highly recommended. We will definitely be going back if in that neck of the woods again. ☺

Great location looking over the river. Large carpark, nicely decor in the dinning area with plenty of space between table. Great potential. Starter of mussels with bacon in cider is an excellent meal. Garlic bread side is another great home made offering. Now the main courses... asked for rare steak, came well done and small for 10oz which is a real shame as the quality of the meat must be exceptional as it still tasted amazing, the chips, frozen french fries over cooked - no excuse for this- say chunky on the wed site. Salmon was perfect but the crushed new potatoes where under cooked and the salsa was six cherry tomatoes cut in half and grilled with three olives.
Real shame. Rated 3 stars as it may have been a bad day for the kitchen as the place was very busy and peaple being turned away so can't see it being consistently like this.

Nice location with plenty of seats. Staff were really friendly and accommodating of our 14 month old, however then only has one high chair for the entire place so it may be prudent to pack your own just in case.

Visited The Abbey Inn a few days ago for a meal with the family (four of us) ordered the steak and onion baguette on a granary baguette, extremely lovely for such a simple dish. Steak cooked medium which was perfect and with minimal gristle for such a low price was very impressive. The pint of Abbey ale was perfect too. The beer lines are obviously cleaned regularly leading to a lovely pint. Staff were excellent, polite and friendly leading to a fantastic meal out. 5 star very well done.
