Very cosy with a real friendly family atmosphere. Set in amazing gardens. Rooms clean and well presented. Breakfast excellent. Great place to stay if you like to walk on Dartmoor. Accepts well behaved dogs. Easy access to the A38 motorway. Will be staying again.

Have just spent 5 nights with my special needs adult son on our second visit to the Lavender house. This a charming privately run hotel. Clean, comfortable, beautifully positioned, with good food made to order, a roaring log fire, and a really relaxed atmosphere. The owners are friendly helpful and knowledgable about the area. Our stay coincided with the snow and a 24 hour plus power cut. Despite this the guests were all provided with a take away collected by their 4 wheel drive, which everyone sat and ate by candlelight. Not the trip we expected but a memorable and enjoyable one! Will certainly go back again. Oh, it’s goid value as well!

Just spent the last three days in this beautiful Hotel. We stayed in the Summer House which is in the hotels large ornate garden which was a bonus for us to be able to relax with our old Shih Tzu dog. Keith Carole and Andrew are the perfect hosts and the food was to die for. (Must go on that diet)! All in all, a fabulous hotel fabulous food, fabulous hosts will definitely be returning. Thank you

Bed and bathroom linen beautiful. Staff unwelcoming, unfriendly and disinterested. Owners surly and brusque to a point of being rude. However the restaurant waitress was reallly quite lovely. Pleasant, polite, efficient and friendly. In fact she was the only member of staff that didn’t make me feel as though I was intruding. 1* for the linen .... 1* for the waitress
