A very tired looking hotel with a mishmash of furnishings and decor where nothing seemed to match. The restaurant had no character and very bland. The reception and flooring needs a great deal of TLC as thats the first impression. The receptionist, albeit polite, appeared disinterested and tired.nThe bar on the otherhand was full of charm with a lovely real fire welcoming you in.nnThe bar/dining waitress was lovely and friendly and very professional. The food was amazing. Beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, well worth the visit just for the food.nnLovely location, and could be a fantastic place with a bit more TLC.
Another lovely stay, at this homely, family run hotel.nFour days of being well looked after, by attentive friendly staff.nNice clean comfortable room, in the summer house with our dogs, who are given lots of attention and fuss, which they lap up.nThe management go above and beyond,to ensure all your needs are met, so you have a relaxing, stress free holiday.nThe food is very good, breakfast has a good selection of cereals and fresh fruit, along with a full English breakfast which is served pipping hot and well presented.nThe evening meals have a good selection to suit all tastes and are freshly home made and delicious, also generous portions.nThe grounds are well presented and pretty, ideal to relax in with a cold beer or cocktail or two, especially in the glorious weather we had for our stay.nAll in all, we had a lovely break here and are leaving feeling refreshed.nBut not before booking a return visit in September for more of the same pampering
Fantastic location on the edge of moors and away from road noise. The breakfast and evening meals were great and cooked fresh. The rooms are being refreshed, adding modern USB charging outlets, etc. Popular wedding location. We stayed mid week, so nice and quiet.
AVOID!nWe booked the cottage for one night to find it had hair and detritus left all over the room and bathroom including torn up toilet paper and plastic gems. Had NOT been cleaned. All very bizarre. Got moved to room 5 and it was a little better but it still had soap stains in the shower and toothpaste flecks above the sink and the tea spoons were left dirty with fresh tea stains. We didn’t eat breakfast because we were concerned about hygiene standards…if that’s what the rooms look like, one can only imagine what the kitchen looks like! Really disappointed and at check out when ask for a discount for the huge inconvenient at 9pm at night we were given a so called ‘discount’ which was actually more than the price of the new room was listed for on their website with absolutely no apology the next day! Clearly not even bothered! Never again.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Lavender House who took over organising and hosting the wake after my mum‘s recent funeral After we were badly let down by another local venue.nnAndrew was brilliant and helped us to set up a photo board and memorabilia table and he also organised a splendid buffet with drinks, tea and coffee et ceterannThank you too to all the staff who were on duty that day who did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend the Lavender House Hotel.
