Just came back from a 5 day camp with my husband and four boys. Wow what a wonderful time we had. The boys had something to do at all times and didn’t have a moment of boredom. All the staff were wonderful, especially Hazel and the chef in the cafe who went out their way to accommodate our extremely fussy eater. The food was wonderful there. Only downside was that the kids had cash pocket money they wanted to spend but everything apart from the arcade was card only. Great shower facilities also, cleaned every day. So much fun to be had without paying extra, although this was our main holiday so we paid for extra activities. Our older boys especially loved the bike park. They rode from 10-4 and said it was the best day ever! Thank you River Dart we will be booking for next year soon!
Amazing camping experience we had pitch number 14 under a huge tree. As you can wonder around , ride your bikes etc before the park opens and closes to the general public it's unique like the park is your own.... Note there are freezers available to use to freeze your ice packs which was dead handy. Generous pitch sizes, you can easily fit 2 tents within a pitch. This place is really well maintained throughout, camp site spotless, showers always hot, toilets always clean. Through the main park, no litter anywhere. Staff are all friendly. You have to pay for the additional activities such as canoe, kayak etc. We really recommend the high ropes, canoe and kayak, Large woodland next to the camping area so dogs can be walked off lead. A lot to do on site so never felt bored. Ashburton is a very quick drive from this site, for the supermarket, fish and chips, ice cream parlour.
We stayed in the bed and breakfast twice as our first stay was so good my son was staying in his caravan site is immaculate no rubbish anywhere all the staff are very helpful. Food is a bit pricey for a campsite but as good as you get in a decent pub so don’t be put off. Good salad bar. Site is fantastic for kids lots to do. All the pitch’s are well spread out. If they go again we will as well.
Prices are non realistic. They may say they have all these activities available, but how many do you think you will achieve in a day? especially if you have children in tow? The day rate is not proportionate to what you will achieve. Save your money and go to somewhere where it's obvious what you are getting for your money. i.e an adventure park. Visit a free country park or local park even and pocket £66, the price for a family of five to go on some slides and a fort. Another £63 for 3 to walk high ropes?! REALLY, not even a free return visit offered or an annual pass for that price. P.S if you must go, take food and drinks and go when its warm enough to paddle in the water which is next to the toddlers beach and by the wooden box called a pirate ship. Oh and buy a bike rack to take your bikes so you can use them in between visiting all the other activities they big up.....just to get more for your money.
Well organized and laid out, very clean. Lots for kids of all ages to do,from the various play equipment all around the woods to the bike and walking trails to the lake and pirate ship. Definitely worth a visit!
What a fantastic place. My grandchildren loved swimming in the lake with the pirate ship. Price was very reasonable and there was lots if things fir them to climb. A great day was had by all
Brilliant place. Fantastic campsite and facilities. The water park is excellent for the children and adults. Definitely recommend This is our 3rd year and we're already planning the next.
The reviews are right. This place is top for a kid friendly holiday. Staff excellent, facilities smashing. Only slight negative would be the canoeing and kayaking is in a very limited area but good for first timers. Restrooms: Pretty good for a campsite
Amazing long weekend break, river was excellent, high ropes is better than centreparcs and half the price, The restaurant was OK a bit like wetherspoons food quality, There is a petrol station /spar shop on the exit of the A38 10 min from entrance to River dart which is good for all the bits needed to camp, and less ££ than the on site shop, longer opening hours too. Camping facilities good, clean, starting to show a little bit of age in the showers but functional, will be visiting again, we will bring the bikes next time.
We have just spent a weekend with the VW Oktoberfest. What an amazing venue. The Park staff were great constantly keeping the facilities at a high standard of cleanliness. The bar which was well stock was kept clean and tidy at all times and the food was great. All of the staff were very professional and by god they had their work cut out for them as there were a lot of Vw folk at this event. Well done to you all looking forward to the next VW event in the spring.
