Stopped on the way home from seeing family and had a lovely roast lamb. Roasts are difficult to get perfect and this was no exception roast potatoes could be crispier, Yorkshire pudding was a bit tough and portions were quite small. However the meat was lovely and tender, the gravy was tasty and the general ambiance in the pub was very nice and the staff were very attentive.
Only had a drink, so I can't comment on the food. We had planned to go elsewhere following a funeral, but on arrival, the place was closed. The staff at the Talkhouse did wonderfully, given that quite a large party arrived unexpectedly on a Monday afternoon. They worked thier socks off with a smile and it was very much appreciated. A well poured pint and a stunning sunset was a bonus!
Lovely looking pub. For a drink. Food is not worth it. Ordered 3 starters, all tiny, the ciabatta slices for the prawn cocktail were just really thin baguette slices. I've never a soup that small for £7. Asked for bread, got 1 slice of supermarket bread.
Really nice pub, lovely and clean and the staff were really friendly. Rooms had everything you could need - only thing to note is that the pub is closed on Sunday evening so make sure to make dinner plans elsewhere! Would def stay again.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely pub and place to stay. Room was spotless, beautifully decorated with a lovely comfortable bed and hot bath and shower. Dinner was delicious with great vegan and vegetarian options. Feel utterly relaxed. Also very reasonably priced.
Service was excellent. Lovely place. We both had the ribs special which were good but would probably have been even better by the evening when they may have fallen off the bone easier. Would certainlygo again.
Staff at the pub restaurant including chamber maid were fantastic, food was amazing. Lovely cosy pub and surroundings. Unfortunately the bedroom lodge and en suite could have been a lot better and the main host's hospitality improved. The room was in need of a deep clean as there was quite a lot of dust built up in the old beams next to where you sleep and the bathroom had a serious damp problem with no air flow resulting in a foul smell in the en suite. Lots of condensation in the bathroom so my belongings on the windowsill got damp. Unfortunately the host wasn't very helpful when we needed access to WiFi and didn't get back to us until we asked more than once. With a few tweaks this could definitely get a higher star rating. Nearby activities: Easy drive into Oxford and lots of parking on site.
Lovely place to stay bit out of the way but the pub itself is lovely and the little beam bee rooms are nice best thing is there dog friendly as well would definitely come back if staining the areaRooms: 5/5
