I visited the library today to work as my internet went down at home. It's a really lovely place and really easy to just pop in, sit down, get connected and crack on. There's no obligation to register for a library card or buy a cup of tea - it's just a helpful service to the community which is so precious. A lot of school children arrived about 3:30pm, but the staff were really good at making sure they didn't get too noisy. Thank you Sydenham Library!
This criminally underutilised/recognised community hub is fantastic and its manager, Andi, and staff are doing a brilliant job at providing so many different services outside the typical library fare: footballs to use at the park it’s next to, a board game library, knitting/bridge and other clubs as well as plenty of free baby/toddler/kid groups. As it’s volunteer run, you may have to wait a little at times for staff to sort out your needs but all very friendly and as helpful as possible. Use it and spread the word!
A great community library with step-free access ramp up for wheelchairs and strollers - Has a small area for tea & coffee inside too. A real gem of the Sydenham area.
I visited Sydenham Library today, to photocopy some photos for a collage. The Library was lovely very organised. The gentleman Ian was extremely helpful and spent time helping me to make sure I had fabulous photocopies of my old and precious photos. So grateful for the help! Many thanks Rachel
The facilities are minimal and the building needs some TLC but it has lots of lovely books and my daughter loves it in there. The people that work there are really friendly and the cafe has lots of treats. It's basic, but if we want to keep our local library we must turn up and support it.
The building is old and could do with refurbishing. However, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The children's book area offers lots of classics as well as plenty of new titles. Whenever I go, it is quiet and few people are around- which I count as a plus. The kids area has a few toys for younger children under 4/5. A down point is that the library doesn't open every day of the week.
Sydenham library is a gem. I love the building, the quirkiness but smart way the library is arranged and if you have a little one, this place is fabulous plus it next to a park. They also have a cafe which is reasonably priced . Although there are no private reading spaces but there are little hidden areas for privacy and very comfy sofa More space has been created in the children area
A lovely place for learning , calm and very nice staff
My wife and I attended the Library at the invitation of Trevor in order to renew Blue Badge which had expired and we had unsuccessfully failed in our attempts to renew online or by post. Trevor was sympathetic and patient and also experienced difficulty with the renewal. He did manage to submit a renewal and we now await the outcome. Trevor had the patience of Job and we cannot thank him enough. The Library staff were all friendly and we found our visit to be most pleasureable.
A bit run down, but staff is very friendly.
