The food and service here is really good. The lunch menu is particularly good value, with quality pub food options at reasonable prices. The sandwiches are serviced of delicious fresh bread with ample fillings and lots of chips. Desert options are limited, but delicious! The only reason this is not a 5 is because it's just so dark in there when the sin isn't out in full (which of course is nearly every time)so invest in some better lighting and it's a 5.

I’m utterly disappointed and so annoyed at the service I received tonight. I’ve been going to the swan and dog for years regularly and have always highly recommended it to family and friends but tonight something had changed!!! It took 38 minutes for us to receive our drinks! We even received and finished our starters before we got them an I had to pester 3 different members of staff, including the manager who just seemed to look straight through me. No staff were there who we recognised - seemed to all be new and none of the waitresses seemed to know what they were even doing! Food came, average. No way as good standard as used to be. Brie was burnt on outside, my partners burger tasted “off” The lighting is always dim in the restaurant but tonight seemed even more appalling. The service we received tonight was disgusting, not even an apology for the slow service. Had to ask for bill twice and even go up to bar to pay after waiting for 20 minutes for them to bring the card machine ever. Couldn’t wait to get out! Would definitely not go back if can help it! Seriously re-consider - Shepherd Neame have RUINED this pub!!!

Really great food, this vintage pub/restaurant is in a lovely village within ashford, all served with local produce and meats, portion sizes are massive well worth the money.

Ok but had to change tables as we had a young child and where in the middle of the room we had asked for a table out of the way .Food very good bit slow but worth the wait.

Really surprised with overall reviews but perhaps the restaurant is good. As for our experience in the bar we had undrinkable vinegary Whitstable bay beer (to be fair it was replaced with a reasonable lager but there were no more bitters on offer) and out of use by date Pipers crisps. First time weve had that experience anywhere! More attention to quality needed.
