About

Proud to be one of the oldest sailing clubs in the country.

Story

With the main clubhouse, extensive boatyard with modern lift and moorings on the River Adur, along with the original clubhouse and locked moorings within Shoreham Port, SYC is first and foremost a members club with unrivalled facilities.

Yachts of all sizes call the club home, with both rallying and racing strongly supported, as is the dinghy section where particular attention is given to encouraging youth sailors.

The club has a diving section and is home to Sussex Sailability, supporting handicapped sailors of all abilities. SYC also boasts a bar and steward famous for hospitality on both sides of the channel, along with a superb restaurant enjoying the best river views in Shoreham.

Such a nice looking building, shame that the fence is made up of plastic roadblocks, making Shoreham High st ugly, and falling onto the road…
I hear the facilities are good for those using the river.nnHowever my experience of the bar was awful. While offering a nice view of the river and bridge. The place has a soulless feel to it.nnThis is not the reason for the one star rating. Never in my life have I experienced such rudeness and condescension from the staff, one person I particular.nnI shall not be returning and will definitely not becoming a member
Lovely location it is shows the heart of shoreham. We went for Sunday lunch and sat in the main dinning area which was a bit bare. The food was lovely the choices where roast turkey, beef, pork and fish. The beef was a little tuff and the pork was lovely. The Yorkshire pudding where big and nice the veg was ok. The view was outstanding. You do need to be a member to go but you can do a trial meal to see what you think. The price of the meal was right for what was given. Staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend to try.
I chose Sussex Yacht Club to host my 50th birthday afternoon tea party and it was the perfect venue for my celebration! Natalie and Jade were so helpful with the planning and the staff on the day were great too! The food was delicious and the views beautiful! I recommend Sussex Yacht Club as a great venue for a function.
This is the second time this year that we have been badly served and treated by Marina at the bar. She is not only rude but also a racist. this behavior should not be acceptable in such a prestigious club, considering that in our group we have 3 full members and we spend a lot of time and money at the club.
