Popped in here on the off-chance while passing on a sunny afternoon. It was surprisingly busy despite us arriving at around 1500, but the staff were immediately friendly, attentive and informative.nWe ordered the shredded lamb Shepard's Pie and the Bangers and Mash; both were tasty, well cooked and good portions for the price.nKatie in particular Katy perhaps, I didn't ask for the correct spelling, sorry! was fantastic from the minute we arrived until we left; all the staff we met were great.nWe had a lovely meal, served quickly, and we even won a couple of free items a drink and a dessert from the Greene King app after we were recommended to get the chain's app and try our luck!nA truly lovely venue with a clear focus on community and good service. The interior of the pub is a little dated, particularly the toilets, but the outdoor areas are beautiful and there's an enormous amount of space - I'm confident it'll be a buzzing venue on any sunny afternoon. There's even a duck/ boating pond!nI'll be back as soon as I'm passing again - thank you all, especially you Katie/Katy!
I really like the Swiss Cottage. From, entering to sitting, this is what you've got in order: A decent car park free if you enter your reg on the computer at the bar; a HUGE garden, with a patio area, a covered area and a grassy area; a little gated play area with a slide and things, in easy view of the beer garden; a pond with ducks!!! duck food available at the bar; three distinct areas inside you can book a table by the window that overlooks the pond; a generally chilled atmosphere; nice long bar; great bar staff particular mention to Shereen for being friendly and kind; plenty of ales and things; Prosecco Day on Friday £12.49/bottle...nnI had the Red Pepper Houmous, Vegetable & Pesto Ciabatta with a side of Rosemary Fries and a Pint of Fosters, which came to about £10 lunch menu. Food was quick and fresh, and you have the option of ordering via the app, although the service can be quite slow if you do it this way I come here quite often for lunch, so I know this is consistently the case - it might be teething problems with the app, as it's quite a new feature for this pub. I'm docking a point for having GB News on the TV, which is quite disappointing, although it was the first time I've seen it on there.nnOverall, this is a great pub for a sunny day in the beer garden, with plenty to entertain the kids. If you don't have or want to be near kids, you can escape to the patio section or the dining area. On bad weather days, the inside is warm and cosy. Highly recommended.
My mixed grill arrived and really looked good. The chicken was just Luke warm. The waiter said, our chef will warm it up for younI said, no he won't he should no better. No sweet course as they didn't have itnBecause it's a new menu, we were told. That was Saturday and now it's Tuesday evening and I haven't eaten since. Still in bed, had paramedics here twice and even our local GP. It's all sounding like food poisoningnAll the tests not back yet. But here is a pic of what it looked likenWhat a wonderful birthday treat never to be forgotten..
Absolutely beautiful food.nJust returned from having a Sunday roast there.nI had the beef and my wife had turkey.nBoth perfectly cooked.nBrother had a burger which was excellent and sister-in-law had the chicken and ham hock pie.nAll handmade there and perfect.nCan't recommend highly enough.nService is great, staff are friendly and we sat in the conservatory with great views over the lake.
After our last visit a year ago and poor service I thought we'd give them another try and shouldn't of bothered to be honest .nService was so snail pace slow and it wasn't even busy even though it was sunday lunchtime .nFinished our food and empty plates were sitting on the table for 30 minutes so just up and walked to the bar to ask to pay bill as was fed up waiting, even then they had to go and find someone to take payment.nWas going to order dessert for all of us but as they never came to clear plates just decided to pay and leave .n1pm on a Sunday with only 5 tables occupied and staff just walking around doing nothing.nSorry but won't be giving them another try .
