Visited Stylus for a recent concert by Switchfoot, including a VIP experience before the show. Venue is inside the student union, keep following the stairs down to find it. Security staff were very friendly, looking after those of us on the VIP experience, making sure we were aware of what was happening and that we were having a good time. Likewise, during the concert, security staff at the front were offering cups of water. A great little venue and an amazing evening.
Nice venue, friendly staff. A bit difficult to see the stage when it’s packed, and needing to queue for hours before the show to get a decent spot was a bit of a drag— but otherwise good experience
Saw Obituary perform here and it was a very loud and very fun gig. The staff were all friendly and security was efficient. I really liked the raised section that allows you to look down onto the mosh pit while also getting a good view of the stage. There are no bad spots in this venue and you can enjoy the gif from everywhere.
Great venue, very intimate and fabulous atmosphere. Tricky to find - didn't see any indication that we needed to go into the SU building. Could do with a sign outside for non-student, first time visitors - we ended up in a group of others having the same problem. Some problems with accessibility- a lot of stairs. I found out there are plenty of lifts, but didn't notice signs for them. Staff were quite helpful, but didn't point out lifts till I was half way down the stairs on my crutches. Could have been more attentive to my needs, but were willing to be helpful once they realised. On the whole, great night out - well organised, safe and fun. Loved it.
We came to see The Teskey Brothers here and it was absolutely amazing! We found finding the venue a little tricky it didn't seem very well signposted! Great size inside and great lay out! Husband used the bar with ease too!
This was our first visit to the Stylus. We did an afternoon recce on the location. Helpful students soon set us right. It is inside the student union building but a few flights of stairs down. There were no posters or directions to the venue. Which is in the heart of Leeds University. It is not a large venue compared to many, but what it does have is a very special atmosphere. This could of course be down to the performing band. Tonight we saw Dirty Honey. They were excellent and just seem to improve every time we see them. On the back of a stunning new album, they're touring quite extensively. It was a good blend of their music. It got quite hot during the performance. It was good to see security at the front of the stage offering cups of water. We will certainly be visiting again.
Like a mini 02 academy - I love it. I went to see Dry Cleaning there and was really great being upfront and personal. My only beef would be the sound - I was disappointed in that I couldn't hear the words the lead singer was saying. I say "saying" as Florence from the band talks rather than sings. So, I would say this was a good test as you should hear the words of someone talking, over someone singing. To me, it was like the levels were all wrong and I could only make out certain words as I knew a lot of the songs. Songs I am unfamiliar with, I didn't have a clue what she was saying. I don't know if it was where I was stood slap bang in the middle at the very front but there we go. There's been very little about the gig online so I can't tell if others had the same experience. At one point I wanted to put my hand up and tell them but thought that was inappropriate! Oh, support acts had no problem! So, don't know if that was the venues issue or the band so there we go
Saw Punk Rock Factory, once we found our way to the venue it was okay, bar prices are what you'd expect in the city centre. Standing on the dance floor was the coolest area as that's where most of the air con was, otherwise it was exceptionally hot, partially due to being underground & being incredibly busy for the gig and probably to encourage bar sales to combat dehydration and help cool down.
A truly great venue. Not a Leeds native so surprising to find a venue like this in the middle of a university campus. Good views all round, but don't stand too close to the mobility lift if you're a normal height and want to see all the stage. Great sound. Good marshaling and organisation too. A great experience watching Erra here. Would come here again!
Great venue. Not too big, plenty of bar to serve everyone and sound quality is decent. Split over 3 levels so you can mosh in the pit or view from above. One of my favourite places to watch bands, quite intimate compared to come larger venues. Parking is easy at Orange Zone car park and a quick walk to the venue.
