Went here this evening after recommendation from taxi driver. I was over working and decided to try it. I went for scallops and prawns for starter followed by their rib eye. Both very good and served in a beautiful quaint environment. All reasonably priced. My old ask is the staff keep their private conversations for behind doors and speed up a little just a little....thanks for a beautiful meal
Update: Thanks for responding to my review so promptly and positively. Totally understand the technology issues. Will definitely be back anyway as the food is amazing Lovely place, atmosphere and surroundings perfect but a bit of a mess up to start. Party of 16, a few of us arrived half hour early as travelling from afar, their bookings' system wasn't working so they couldn't find the booking. No paper back up book?? Even if they had, the table for such a large party hadn't even been set up! They rushed about to set the table up whilst we waited. Food was great, can't fault it at all, prawns/scallops perfection. Think most enjoyed the food Seabass lovely too and it came out in good time too. When a full glass of coke was spilt by one of the kids in the party by the bar area, before we went to the table, the waiter mopped it up with paper towels but left all the coke on the seat dripping down and didn't even come back to finish it and go over with a proper soapy cloth so it was left a sticky mess. Attention to detail not brill, no salt and pepper on the table, knives and forks missing, we had to locate a further chair. Shame really, maybe they were just short staffed. The very young lad who looked after us did so well though and worked hard just a shame it didn't run smoothly from the start.
lovely pub and it was truly amazing food I would 100% recommend for anyone to visit if they are in the area. Like I was
Great choice for a drink or food. Nice layout and refurbished to a high standard. I enjoyed my food here. One to go to if your in the local area
First time visiting this lovely pub a couple of weeks ago and it was truly amazing. The pub was very comfortable for a relaxing drink/coffee and the food was so good we visited again the next day before we left the area. If you love the feel of comfortable cottage style, dog friendly in and outside pubs, you will love this place. The staff where very friendly and welcoming with us, would 100% recommend for anyone to visit if they are in the area.
Great atmosphere to meet up with friends and have a meal. Our server was very friendly and attentive - in short she was excellent! I have to say that I was underwhelmed at the portion size of the nourish bowl which I had and the chicken which accompanied it was rather dry. The dressing was tasty though. The vanilla cheesecake for dessert was delicious.
The food was exceptional. We are both chefs and the standard was brilliant. I know how difficult it is to make a medium rare ribeye steak and it was faultless. The pork belly just melted. Flavours and seasoning were exceptional. Well done Alex, you are a tremendous chef. We also had starter and pudding which were also as good. The service from Liv also was 100% fantastic. She was attentive, polite and you must be extremely proud to have her as part of your team. What an asset. All in all it was a great night out in a pub that was very busy but they still managed to keep everything perfect. Thank you for a lovely time. Chris Dawson
Thought it would be quiet arriving at 5.50pm, it was already quite busy. We were seated quickly and looked after superbly by our waitress, sorry I've forgotten her name. Room we were in was lovely food was excellent. It was all good especially the steak. We'll be back soon
Just dropped in on the off chance we could get a table for Sunday lunch, never been before. We were made very welcome and Lucy looked after us. Service and food were brilliant, well cooked and just the right size portion. We loved the mini portion of sweet with a hot drink. Excellent and attentive service and a lovely atmosphere. We’ll be back soon!
We have eaten here a number of times this last year, and I don't have anything negative to say on them. I have been very happy with the food I've been served and the staff are lovely. We will inevitably be returning. There is a good sized car park and if that were to get full there is a road to the side of the pub through the trees with no restrictions on parking the last time we went past please obviously check for yourself when you get there! Dogs are welcome too!
