We went there twice both times with a group of around 8. The place is beautiful and the food good, but it’s being let down by its staff. The first time we went the staff put through the wrong order which meant one of us only got food by the time the rest had already finished. The second time we went was much worse. We asked if we could sit outside, we could so we did. After the first order of part of the group was put through, the staff changed their mind about from which menu we could order. Just to clarify, we have not been told first there would be a different menu to begin with and the day before we sat outside and could order from the lunch and the main menu without issues. We were then told if we sat inside, we could order from the main menu, so really it was down to lazy staff! Laziness is the right word and incompetent another- being served an almost cold latte, we tried to get a new one upon which the lady checked if she could heat it up in the microwave. We said no, we would like a new one since a proper coffee machine would be able to procue hot coffee. The latte we got back to the table was the same one - microwaved. Would recommend the place only for good location, but generally awfully lazy and incompetent staff.

Beautiful pub building. The laziest, rudest, most incompetent staff I ever met in any food serving venue. In a middle of an 8-people group food order they decided to switch from a Sunday menu to a bar menu. Made us move from inside to the beer garden and back inside again. Because "they don't want to carry large food orders outside" (!!!). If there was a half star option, I'd give that rating.

Didn't have a great experience here, food took a long time to come food was dry. Kids meal sausages were inedible my 3 year old wasn't impressed. Service wasn't great either.

8 of us booked an afternoon meal. We selected shared starters and main courses in advance and reconfirmed our selections on the morning of the meal. We requested starters to be served with our drinks but they arrived almost an hour later. After a long delay again had to find a waitress to find what was happening with the main course. The food was good and so was the restaurant itself but we were ignored throughout. Staff were friendly but either over-worked or poorly trained or more likely poorly managed. Even at the end we waited ages after receipt of the bill and finally had to go to the bar to pay. I would have recommended the Star but such poor service is inexcusable.

Standard has gone down hill since we last visited. Always a bustling pub but seems to have become unoccupied by the flow of customers. Our waitress was miserable abd seemed like she did not want to be there. Unimpressed.
