give this refinery a BREAK ....it produces so much from crude oil people take for granted ...!!!!!!!!!!!! petrol/..etc just tip of iceberg... Nylon .. yep your clothes, carpets/.soap/synthetic rubber/fertilisers, paint/oxygen /.even medicines/calor gas/..yep . Plastics ..UPVC windows..etc etc/.bitumen for roads the list goes on........its a tough hard process as an ex employee.that runs 24/7 365 days in All weathers rain or snow !!!!!!that heats your homes./petrol in your car dont moan at petrol prices its the GOV..that puts the price up at the budget!!!!! TAX.!!!!!!....just think about things ..that toothbrush you use /and tooth paste tube and deep down even the "paste "....YOUVE NO IDEA...how tough it is to give the Comforts WE take take for Granted ..as for "local" residents..can see their view ......BUT !! STANLOW was built before their houses ...and residents Knew when they bought ..IT!.. helps keeping this country going ..and less reliant on IMPORTED OIL .... and MORE IMPORTANT...investing in renewable energy ..its Not Shell anymore but its the same ..its an Energy company ..that means wind power/wave power/solar/hydro electric power/ as well as oil and gas ....Dont bite the hand that feeds YOU ! ....think about this review .....next time you get on the plane for holidays in the sun .....aviation fuel etc mostly came from Stanlow ,and other products that ultimately played the part in Wings for "airbus " in broughton Chester in the plane you fly !!!!!... the "Chain " goes on for "Our Modern world ........
Place looks cool from motorway
Wish it would just shut down! There has been more issues, fires and pollution since Essar took over. That Constant smell of sprouts and sulphur! Its disgusting! And all the dust that lands on our windows will also be landing in our lungs!! And if You Say I am wrong then you should try living next to it!! I have lived here for 7 years and for the last 2 years my breathing has been terrible so I am moving to a different area
Alarms and sirens today, smoke bellowing out of the site covering local areas. Best bit is their "Emergency number" didn't work during their emergency, thanks for that Essar! Great planning there.
Stanlow refinery is a necessary and critical piece of national infrastructure which has maintained operation non-stop, supporting the UK economy. Stanlow will increase in importance as the UK economy transitions to low-carbon sources. Excellent people who I have worked with here, they are experts in their craft. The smell others talk off is actually from the Bio-fuels plant adjacent to Stanlow refinery, the smell is caused by the digester and can be disgusting.
Stanlow remains one of the brightest spots in the increasingly gloomy industrial scene in North West UK. Thanks Stanlow for supporting the economy for over 60 years. I am a resident of Ellesmere Port and I am proud of your existence.
admin gate 6 are rude always complain about you being late or two early. always going on smoking breaks when it is buzzy. loaders have no respect for the people doing delivery or collections. there moto is the customers are always wrong. Health and safety rules get in the way of certain jobs slowing down to a snails pace just to move a trailor off site. Loaders on site are rude alway in a hurry safety out of the window. Haz lables are dont stick half a day .... bring spray glue. industrial only NO SHOPs other quotes are from the staff.
This company alone has caused 5 straight years of air quality breaches in nearby Thornton le moors. 2019 has been no better so far.
I purchased some oil from here a while back, on my way to Leamington Spa. The best oil I have ever bought. Good packaging too.
