Very handy for Liverpool and Manchester with usually 4-5 trains an hour. Arrive early if you're a commuter and want to park in the car park. Use an old cheap bike if you can - plenty of cycle paths nearby for a lot of commuters. Also, it's a pretty station.

Widnes station building may be lovely, and the little shelter on platform 1 may well be a monument to my daughter's childhood (her words) but it smells of urine. Come on Widnes station, it doesn't take much to clean and refresh a couple of times a day. And no WiFi... Still in the dark ages!

Smelly, old and dirty station. I also had many issues getting tickets from the machines as they are 100 years old.
