I arrived at the establishment and was seated in the bar area, which had a designated dog-friendly section. Bailey, our server, promptly approached us to take our drink orders. We inquired about various drink options, and Bailey expertly guided us in selecting the ideal beverages. Chris swiftly delivered our drinks and took our food order. We ordered four starters, which were served promptly, hot, and delicious. Overall, the experience was exceptional. Bailey and Chris demonstrated exceptional engagement and a willingness to accommodate our requests. We look forward to returning to the establishment in the future. Vegetarian options: Apon arrival we was asked about vegetarian options and they had plenty available to suit Dietary restrictions: Apon arrival we was asked about dietary requirements and any other requirements needed. I can't help but sing praises for the Stanley Gate Pub – it's become my go-to spot for a memorable dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality that sets the tone. Let's talk about the food – oh, the food! It's nothing short of exceptional. On my recent visit, I indulged in the camembert and chef's board, and let me tell you, it was a culinary delight. Each bite was bursting with flavor, showcasing the skill and dedication of the kitchen team. And don't even get me started on the desserts – just glancing at the new menu had me vowing to save more room for them on my next visit. But what truly sets Stanley Gate apart is the impeccable service. Pauline and Robyn deserve a special mention for their friendly and attentive service. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and cared for, adding an extra layer of warmth to the dining experience. In summary, if you're in search of top-notch food and service in a cozy, inviting atmosphere, look no further than the Stanley Gate Pub. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a culinary gem that never fails to impress. Kudos to the entire team at Stanley Gate – you've won me over as a loyal patron, and I'll most certainly be back next week!! Vegetarian options: Nice options for vegetarian always something good on the specials too !! Parking: Ample parking
I wish I lived closer to this pub restaurant. Genuinely dog friendly unusual for a Chef and Brewer, the chicken burger was excellent, friendly staff, water and treats for your dog and also doggy sausage or chicken is available to order.Food: 5/5
First time visiting this restaurant and would definitely recommend. The roast dinners were cooked perfectly with the additional pigs in blankets. Both desserts were packed full of flavour. Great good and drinks and friendly staff.
We had a lovely time and a very nice meal. Very helpful staff. Bringing extra plate, smaller cutlery, and most importantly for our granddaughter ketchup. The only downside is that the toilets are upstairs, there is a disabled/baby changing one. However, it wasn't all that clean, which couldve been a one off. So I don't want to mark 4 stars, 4.5 would've been OK.
Was here on Sunday 11th February for a combined anniversary and valentines meal. Food was excellent and then the bar area afterwards was nice and relaxingFood: 4/5
Oh dear !!! This really was a bad experience!! Some food good, some very very bad and a waitress prepared to slate customers in the public arena !!! We arrived at the Stanley gate optimistic and looking forward to heavenly described Korean chicken. We were seated quickly in this lovely little pub ...with rustic features. Our first course took an average time . The mushroom ciabatta was fine , my fiancées chicken was fresh and well presented...Indeed proving very tasty. The children's garlic Bread with cheese was strange in texture maybe microwaved ..I.e hot bread with cold cheese . Main course... korean chicken again , fresh , tasty ...nothing short of delicious. My partners steak was well done and not medium rare as requested. Chips and peppercorn sauce all fine. The worst dish by far was the tomato pasta with meatballs. Vegan or not meatballs should not be cold and I returned the dish as it had absolutely no tomato type sauce at all . It was cooked pasta with cold meatballs and peas. This was the first time in 2years I had stated I would not pay for a dish. I complained and the absolute worst point of the evening THE WAITRESS CHOSE TO SLATE US OPENLY WITHIN EARSHOT OF MY DAUGHTER AND FIANCEE. how disgraceful. I have informed the person who took payment immediately after paying so as to remove any accusation of making it up to get a free meal. The deserts were very nice but by then the evening was ruined !!! Absolutely awful will not be returning
We bought meals for two adults and two young children at the start of December, two meals being from the festive menu three courses for around £28. The Yorkshire puddings were rock hard and the sprouts were raw....we still were charged a whopping £91-odd despite parts of the meal being inedible. We will be finding somewhere else to eat next week..... Shame as I've been going to The Stanley Gate on and off for the past 30 years, being a local for part of that time, and the staff and general atmosphere is really good.
This is a really nice place set in a beautiful area. It's always my first choice when I'm visiting nearby. Food is tasty, fresh, and good value. Service is efficient and friendly. There are separate areas - restaurant, bar, and garden. Dogs are allowed in the bar and garden but not the restaurant. We came in as a walk-in. It wasn't very busy so we were shown to a table in the restaurant, and service was prompt. There is a good range of dishes available, including chef's specials. The cost for 2 starters, 3 mains, 2 puddings, and 4 drinks was around £76. Toilets are upstairs but there is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
Excellent food. Freshly cooked to perfection. Excellent beer garden if you want a nice place for date night or impress on a first date look no further large selection of wine and spirits. But the food is sublime
