"The Stables at Mortonhall - Bar & RestaurantInside the archway at the Mortonhall Stable Courtyard you will find the Stable Bar which offers a wonderful family dining experience coupled with a range of wines, spirits and beers of which the operators show great pride. The sheltered courtyard provides a lovely place to sit in the summer and equally as enjoyable is a drink by the roaring fire in the winter. There is outside seating in the stable courtyard itself. Indoors there are plenty of tables in the main bar area adjacent to a log fire that roars on colder days. Also available is the Saddle Room which can accommodate larger, and on occasion, private parties."

Having toured the NC500, we decided to stay in Edinburgh for 2 nights. We stumbled on this place by chance. We can't recommend this place highly enough. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Decide for yourself.. pay them a visit! Thank us later..
Tourist Review Had a lovely stop here on a road trip out of Edinburgh, saw some very cute fuzzy cows in the pasture on the way in, my wife was jazzed about them! The staff were warm and welcoming the moment we stepped in, and the main room was cozy and decorated with stable implements and beautiful chalk drawings of the menus. I had a steak and ale pie, it was pretty good, but my wife had the Mac & cheese and boy was I jealous! It tasted absolutely incredible. I’d get it myself if we were able to go a second time. Good selection of beers, and a pleasant number of non alcoholic drinks as well! I got a Rekorderling cider and it was glorious. I didn’t see a ton of outdoor seating, but that may have been due to the weather. Parking was plentiful and there are plenty of trails tucked away nearby the parking lot to work off your meal after : recommend!
After a week travelling the North and East coast of Scotland. With absolutely nothing open.. It was a welcome place to visit. Log fire, friendly staff who were willing and happy to give some tourist advice and local knowledge. Very friendly bar and reasonable prices.
Unexpected visit after shopping at IKEA. Wonderful country pub serving excellent food and drink. Great service from young staff. Starter, mains, drink and couple of sides for 4 = £100. Nice. Seats/tables nside and out in courtyard.
Plus points - easy access from camp site. Reasonable prices. Staff service prompt and friendly. Hubby enjoyed his burger. Minus points - Greasy, soggy chips, greasy haddock and overcooked, hard frozen peas clearly reheated a number of times. They were not particularly busy mid week in October, so there's really no excuse for poorly cooked food.
Cozy bar with candle lights on the bottle located in the heritage. We pay a visit for an early lunch on a chilly morning. The burger with blue cheese and beef tasted exceptional and the king prawn pasta tasted juicy and delicious. The staff were very nice and the price was acceptable with a good portion.
It was very cozy when we visited. Maybe too cozy! There was a roaring fire in the fireplace and above our table were heaters blasting down. I had to strip off a few layers as I was so warm! Better than too cold I guess. Food was decent - I had scampi and chips with peas. I'd rather they hadn't put each ingredient in a different container on the plate, but hey ho. Also, they have good WiFi.
Met a friend for excellent coffee and fruit scone, clotted cream and jam, with quick friendly service, then later, good goats cheese salad and lentil soup. Shall take my wife, next time! Prices reasonable. However, this is good pub food, not haut cuisine.
Fantastic place that's reasonably priced. Arrived without booking the host could not be more accommodating! Slight hic up with our order but that was not a problem at all! Brilliant customer service would highly recommend
Lovely food. I normally find when I go to a restaurant and order a mac&cheese that the portion is quite small. I ordered the large here and was not dissapointed. Fab amount of cheese as well!
