What an amazing Chinese. Sat in as a family of 3, a nice relaxed place. Served by Jane who was nothing but friendly and catered to everyone’s needs… then onto the food… Blown away by the quality of the meal. Food fresh and piping hot straight out the kitchen. Every single dish tasted amazing. Would highly recommend and shall be returning soon.
The absolute best Chinese food I have ever tasted. The food is made from scratch. What a difference to the normal Chinese food you get elsewhere. Had the best won ton soup and crispy Chile beef . Highly recommended. Fab staff tooFood: 5/5
They accommodated 2 old English sheepdogs, we had a great meal, fantastic flavours and generous portions. The staff we really helpful and friendly, as were other people in the pud. Would recommend
Looking at the name, you might be surprised to hear that the Grey Horse Inn is not just a pub - it is also home to the best Chinese takeout in Edinburgh. It's been so incredibly popular with locals since they started offering Chinese food over lockdown that you have call in advance to book your slot. But it's 100% worth it. We've loved it so much that we've sat in a couple of times to enjoy the food too whilst having a pint. And the folks there are always so friendly!
The food here is so good - amazing Chinese food and Paul does a banging fish and chips! Super friendly service from a family business, huge range of malts and good selection of ales. Best food in Balerno and surrounding by far. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment.
An absolutely superb pub with a traditional look with a beer garden. Real ales are kept in terrific condition and usually feature something from Scotland. The landlord is great as well, so friendly and welcoming.
We visited this pub after staying at JustB. We were not disappointed, amazingly wonderful food. The service from both Jane and Derek family run was just wonderful. We will be returning as soon as possible because the Chinese dishes are fantastic in both quality and price. Dog friendly and customer service is wonderful. If you are even staying in Edinburgh then visit Balerno and this pub ! Seriously amazing.
Came here on a whim whilst staying at the Dalmahoy hotel with my wife and son. Service was exceptional, drinks were very good, place is very homely with regulars dotted around the place. Came here for a meal and it did not disappoint. Ordered BBQ ribs, special fried rice, and fried shredded beef special dish. The food here was exceptional, exquisite, tasty and authentic. Sadly we live to far away to come here regularly but I'd say it's the best Chinese meal I've had period. Well done Grey Horse you exceeded our expectations and some.
Paul's food and culinary skills are second to none. The flavours in every dish are exemplary, and the hospitality afforded by Jane knows no bounds. As local villagers in Balerno, we are so grateful to have this Inn on our doorstep. There may be a better Chinese, but I'll bet it'll be in China!Food: 5/5
We visited on Sunday with family and the food was excellent. We all opted for Chinese and although we had to wait it was all cooked individually and couldn't be faulted. Best Chinese food we"ve had in a very long time. I especially liked the fact that the plates were warmed and that makes a big difference. We will definitely be back. Top marks for the chef.
