Full disclosure: I stayed for free as I was delivering a talk at the hotel. Hotel Tresanton is in St Mawes which, I'm assuming anyone who is looking for somewhere to stay here already knows, is beautiful. My room overlooked the bay, and given that the hotel is built on a steeply inclined hill, I'm assuming that all the other rooms do too. The bed was enormous and the room was a very good size too, and well appointed with everything you might need (except a bath, though the shower was roomy and luxurious). Upon arrival I parked my car in front of the hotel, on double yellow lines. This made me uncomfortable but was the only option. Walking up stairs to the reception (this is categorically NOT a suitable place for anybody with mobility problems) I was met with smiles and a man who helped me cart my luggage up to my room, and parked my car for me (I didn't see where, but apparently it's an arduous climb up to the car park). There's a lounge area in the hotel with a large open fire and comfortable seating - armchairs and sofas. Staff are pleasant and professional, and made me feel at home. The meal that was provided as part of the talk was delicious: if this was in any way representative of the fayre available for evening diners then it really is something else. The full English breakfast was as expected for hotels at the pricier end of my experience - small portions but ingredients of noticeable quality. No baked beans, though, so can this really count as a _full_ English? Departure was smooth and staff were as helpful as they were on arrival, just in the opposite direction. I'd happily stay here again, if only I could afford it!

A beautiful setting, wonderful staff but hugely expensive.

Used to be absolutely fantastic restaurant but has got complacent in last few years for non residents. Dinner always 9pm or later and empty restaurant, food quality no longer so high and service has fallen significantly. Still quite pricey and so no longer beats driftwood. Disappointing as used to love it. It's still a top place to go for lunch, and has amazing views, however!
