Beautiful interior of a historic church is not to be missed. The stained glass, interior design elements are something to behold. Word of caution though, watch your steps as you walk around the floor. There's side areas that have steps down that are unexpected since your gaze is upward.
We visited this beautiful cathedral on a weekday. We also bought tickets for 900nVoices. On Sunday morning, we came back to worship and celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The people were lovely and welcoming! The pastor’s message was very meaningful. Worshipping here has been a lifelong dream for my husband, who is a retired Presbyterian minister.
absolutely stunning church, it does get a little crowded. no tickets needed! great tourist spot, definitely would recommend. restaurants & souvenir stores are located outside in the city, accessible via walking
A breathtaking cathedral at the heart of Edinburgh. It is free entry. The inside design and icons are absolutely astonishing. The outside Gothic architecture is amazing. It is worth dedicating 1 hour to visit it.
St. Giles’ Cathedral is a stunning piece of Gothic architecture that truly captures the essence of Edinburgh’s rich history. The intricate stained glass windows, the Thistle Chapel with its exquisite carvings, and the peaceful ambiance inside create a profound sense of reverence. Walking through the cathedral, I felt a deep connection to the past, surrounded by centuries of history and artistry. It’s a must-visit for anyone in Edinburgh, offering a serene escape right in the heart of the city.
