On arrival the staff 2 females were friendly but seemed very busy. Went to ordered hot drinks to be told the machine wasnt working. If it had of only been me and my daughter i would of left and found somewhere else as it was a cold wet day and we both needed a hot drink. We had others meeting us so we stayed. In waiting to order. I was struck by that toilet smell and found it to be the next room where the disabled toilet door was left open. On looking around there were cob webs and dust. How ever the food was nice it was warm/hot. The beef was a bit tough maybe slightly over cooked. The others meals looked good and my guessed said they were nice. We had quite a wait for desserts which we didn't understand why,? as by the time that bit came around we were 1 of only 3 others eating. We had to go and ask about the puddings in the end. We witnessed a couple clear glass off a table as all the tables had been used but not cleared properly. When the staff was free she came round with cleaner and cloth and did all the tables then reset them. With covid still very highly out there as soon as the people left the tables should of been cleared and cleaned for cross contamination would of most definitely happened when the older couple clear bits off the table so they could then order food and eat. Unfortunately with everything that went on these were the only pictures I got. I think the pub needs a good deep clean as on arrival it looks nice but once sat waiting and waiting you look around and notice alot more. I hope they pick things up as I've always enjoy going there. The food was around £12. For a Sunday roast
Honestly... I couldn't believe how good the food was! I was ready to run into the kitchen and sing my praises to whoever was cooking! The Lamb was falling off the bone! Great vibes and a great place for families too! My two girls had a lot of fun on the playground! Beautiful place! Great staff
Visited for a meal as the new manager offered us two free meals as an apology. We had lovely food, the service was excellent and 1000 times better than our previous visit. I have changed my review and given 5 stars as I feel that the staff that looked after us made us feel welcome.
Have been several times as it is a helpful location if you are visiting the hospital and need to kill an hour..! Most of the dishes are well prepared but watch out for the mussels - cracked shells in a bitter cream sauce were disappointing. The other meals were essentially good pub grub with some neat 2 person deals. Beers all OK.
Lovely Sunday roast with the family. Well priced food, nice atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Only reason for the missing star was that there was no turkey, tea or coffee when we visited. Hopefully next time. Would recommend for relaxed meal or drink
We had lunch today and had a wonderful meal. The steak and ale pie was very tasty and there was no problem when we asked for sweet potato fries instead of chips. Mum and Dad enjoyed their curry and mixed grill as well. My white wine was nice and cool and good quality. Thank you Marcus and staff for a lovely meal and great time. When we are back for Christmas from Spain where my husband and I live, we will be back.
14 of us went here for Christmas meal today very disappointed the starters were lovely, as for the main course it was luke warm parsnips were cold and the meal was very salty desert was ok but They had forgot 3 of them so we had to ask. It would of been nice if all the courses had come out at the same time. The pub was cold as well we asked for the heating to be turned up but it was still cold. Very disappointing.
Amazing food, very nice staff. One of the best steak and ale pies I have ever had! The pub is beautiful inside too!
Stopped off for munch and a beer before heading home. The food was outstanding, a warm welcome from the staff. My first time in this pub, will come again. Thanks
Five of us visited here for Mother's day meal . Very friendly staff. 3 of us had starters . All very nice. Then we chose 3 Sunday roasts & two burger & chip meals . All the meals were very nice . Would definitely recommend a visit .
