5 stars for the service ! The bar lady was amazing made us feel really welcome with having a dog and was really friendly . Ordered two meals the vegetarian meal wasn’t great and the halloumi on the skewer was rock hard however after a long walk was to hungry to complain and I don’t doubt for a second that it wouldn’t of been corrected if I had . Overall was worth the visit
Vibrant atmosphere, lovely place to be on a sunny day. Scampi and chips nice and fresh very tasty. Joe and Tom behind the bar both very warm and friendly excellent service.Food: 5/5

Excellent pub, perfect for calling in after a walk in the Peaks. Good selection of beers, open fires and dog friendly. The food is great too. We had some chicken wings with hot sauce and sharing nachos... Both were fantastic, the wings were some of the best I've ever had. The bar staff are lovely to top it off. Highly recommended! Sept 2023 edit. Still a great pub and the chicken wings are still excellent.
Lovely clean pub, food was really nice and the staff are very friendly. Our dogs were welcomed and allowed anywhere in the building. Parking: Need to give your reg in at the bar, as there isn't many spaces. Very quick and simple.
Not too busy on a Friday lunch time. 2 course menu for under £10. Can't go wrong .Food: 5/5
Reasonably priced, food was of a good standard quality, quick service. The staff are friendly, warm environment with pleasant decor..... so not bad all round.
As always a fantastic visit. We visited today with our 4yr old autistic son who loves to come for his fruit shoot mini cheddars and Lolly from auntie Shazzers box. Always a warm welcome and fantastic warm service. Parking: Good size car park to the rear just remember to input reg plate at the bar Kid-friendliness: My son is always made a fuss of and loves to come here as he’s always made to feel welcome
Once again cant fault the management or pub, they absolutely go above and beyond, our little boy absolutely loves sharon and cant wait to see her when we come, he gets a lolly pop and in return sharon gets a massive cuddle from him, and he doesn’t gives those out to everyone. Amazing service, atmosphere and all round lovely pub to be in. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available. Dietary restrictions: They always ask about dietry restrictions when placing a meal. Parking: Its free parking so long as you enter your vehicle registration into the tablet they have in the pub. Kid-friendliness: Absolutely cant fault their kid friendly service, always go above and beyond. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible through both the front door and the side door to the car park.
The shepherds pie was very nice but the vegetables were uncooked and inedible. We have eaten at the sportsman many times but this was by far our worst experience.We mentioned it to our server but no one came to deal with our complaint.Food: 3/5
