Visited with my family 2 adults , 3 children for lunch. This restaurant is very rustic and screams for an upgrade in the decor. The toilets are unfortunately in very poor condition. The food was below average in taste and quality and did take a very long time to arrive , although the restaurant did not seem very busy. The saving the grace is the staff who are great , they did their best is a tough situation.
It's been nicely refurbished but it is open plan and was very noisy. It seems to be more of a 'tradesmen's dirty pint' pub & leaves one feeling a little uncomfortable. Rather hoped it would move a little more into the family friendly / couples demographic with the reopening but this seems not to be the case.
The kitchen here "Union Grill" produce delicious roasts, I recommend ordering a board which has a mixed roast, really good burgers Monday 2 for 1 and is a great pub with regular live music and a fantastic enclosed garden! For veggies, they have a 'Mac fritter' burger made of macaroni cheese - its really good!
Visited more recently. This pub has had a massive refurb and is now a much better place to visit. It is close to Saltdean beach and has a lovely outdoor seating area. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Ollie the manager and his team were great they saved the day for my dads 86th birthday we booked over a week ago at the Saltdean Carvery and they had forgot to write are booking down so my niece phoned Ollie at the Spanish Lady and he made room to accommodate 17 members of my family. The food was amazing I had the roast beef and my family had many dishes from their menu all the staff were very friendly and professional.
Our roast gammon was great, then unfortunately the feeder tank upstairs leaked and we had to vacate the building for our safety. And they refunded all the meals
Good pub with friendly staff. I had a roast here and it was good. Cooked well with loads veg and home made yummy Yorkshire pudding. Gravy came in its own jug. I enjoyed the roast the service was good and excellent value
Nice clean pub. Staff are nice and we got a nice welcome and goodbye from the security guy at the door. Our visit was slightly spoiled by someone with a dog and it just constantly barked and yelped. Some people even got up and left. It should have been the owner and the dog that should have left.
New ownership means better food and service. Went and really enjoyed it. Its joe in a different league!
Nice local pub with lots on offer, they do daily food deals that are great value and very tasty
