Wonderful family running this quaint cafe! The chicken burger is amazing and they recommended beers to go with it as well! I would definitely recommend it to everyone going to Brighton. It is just a short walk away from the beach.
We went there on May 2022 and such a lovely place and staff, amazing food - and great vegan options. Our Airbnb host suggested this place and no regrets going there. My partner ordered steak and I ordered vegan gnocchi, and it was the best one I had. The old fashioned was superb. We were so happy with the food and service that we booked for Sunday roast traditional and vegan and again, great food and no regrets! Highly recommend it! :
We were in Brighton for only one night and this restaurant was mentioned in one of the brochures in our hotel room, and we decided to go. Wow, what a great place! So cozy with all the dark colours, and the decoration is so detailed! Very very nice. I ordered a Caesar salad, bit bland to be honest, but the location made up for it ;-.
Went here on a whim and we were impressed. The downstairs bar is lively and well laid out, but most impressed by the restaurant upstairs. Watch out Lion and Lobster, Walrus has a lovely service team, good food and the emphasis on home style food and good portions is right. We loved the skate and chicken cordon blue. Will return.
Lacklustre best sums it up A group of us arrived for an early dinner. we were shown to a corner table by the door. The menu wasn't huge. Fish, Burgers or veggie. Our server wasn't interested in us, or our order. Burgers were undercooked. Chips tasted like reconstituted variants - but weren't. To explain they were like powder. Possibly heated then reheated. There were no sauces offered. when we asked our server gave us a choice of mustard or mustard. One of our group complained because the food was not warm. We paid, left and won't be returning. Such a shame. Its round the corner for me. was much better when the owners were working the venue.
Probably the Best Sunday lunch in Brighton I only went on sundays Lots of regulars. I love it when the cook is there, she's friendly, bubbly and talented.. The atmosphere changes as soon as she walks in, out of the kitchen..Food: 5/5
Charming little street corner pub! Came here with a group of friends for Sunday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly staff and great service. Coming back for Christmas 2022 which I am sure we will enjoy.
I have been coming here since they opened and I cannot believe I haven't come on here to leave a review! The BEST roast in brighton, family owned, dog friendly, great drinks menu, lovely specials - I just cannot recommend it enough - GO! Make sure to book on a sunday and their evening weekday menu is lush too. Thank you Emily, Simon and team for being the best xxx
Miss the original owner, she knew how to welcome people and cook. Small portions for more money, compulsory service charge even just for a drink, cool, slightly soggy chips and very oily fish bites. Cutting costs like we all must but overpriced now for very poor service and quality, a great shame, used to be great.Food: 1/5
Had not been a couple of years after a couple of poor experiences. Wine was amazing - however the food was a complete let-down. The steak had to be returned. It was tough, full of gristle and undercooked. "Medium" doesn't mean blood rare and cold. The sauce was a combination of liquid butter and oil. Not sure what had happened to the chips either. They tasted of like flour - and not like potato at all. Needless to say the steak platter didn't go down well. Most of it wasn't eaten. The Senior Waiter apologised, but I was surprised to see the apology wasn't reflected in the bill. I hadn't expected to pay for food that is poorly prepared/presented. Paid the bill and left. Won't be returning in a hurry.
