Delicious food! Perfect table with a sea view. Nice, friendly staff Good value for money I had the slow pork roast.
A lovely bar with very friendly staff going above and beyond duty. We arrived half an hour after the kitchen shut, but the chef was still there and offered to re-open just for us. We had the sharing plate between the 3 of us, with a couple of sides. Ample for lunch. The menu looked great and was very reasonably priced. The Harvey's beer was perfect. Faultless :-
Been to Bristol bar many times. Always consistently good. Food is delicious and lovely and hot. Took some friends for the first time and they also very impressed. Thank you from Viva Verde flowers Hove.
DO NOT GO! We were sat at the table with the sun in our eyes. We stood up to turn the blind NOT lower it and was rudely shouted at by the owner to not touch the blinds. If we don’t like the table then we should move. As we left we said to him that we felt the way he spoke to his customers was extremely rude. He then proceeded to say “tell someone who gives a shit” “fuck off”. The chef calmly approached us to explain the blinds had been broke many times which we understand but the way it was communicated to us was not acceptable. He then continues to shout rude remarks, swearing and approaching us aggressively to the point where the chef had to hold him back. The pub is a lovely venue however the owner most definitely is not. Another customer followed us out to say the way he spoke to us was disgusting and told us she needed to push her chair in because if someone else wanted to sit next to them they cannot. EDIT: we didn’t even manage to touch the string of the blind before we were shouted at to not touch it. We approached the staff in a calm manner THROUGHOUT. Surly the response should have been approached in calm way and see what you can do to assist your paying customers. In response to the chefs comments below. No fuss was caused by ANYONE but the owner himself. Do better. All replies to bad comments are clearly manipulated to make out the staffs response to a situation is reasonable.
RUDE OWNER/STAFF!!! We went for a Sunday lunch, we were 15mins early for our reservation and firmly reminded that we were early but since it was opened two mins ago I don’t know how it was relevant. There was only one group inside but we were not given a sea-view table anyways. As we sat and started ordering, we were reminded that we had the table for only 2 hours which was again an unnecessary reminder and my partner suggested we should go somewhere else. Fifteen mins later we were reminded again. at that point it became frustrating. We ordered a cheese board which had mouldy raspberries but we didn’t wanna complain, i was already not having a good time. They seemed pretty proud of their food however it was mediocre at best. I can’t say it was expensive but it sure was not cheap. I had better service and far better food for less. So overall experience was below average. Also reading below comments and responses made me realise that they need a professional manager both in the restaurant and on social media. EDIT : after the owner’s rude comments disguised as an apology, i took the rating to 1 star… it’s not my fault this establishment has low quality food, poor hygiene and rude staff. Sort yourselves please.
Had a meal at this restaurant had a wonderful meal with very nice waitress. I had lamb shank and it was to die for. My wife and daughter had pasta delicious pasta dishes and a nice touch is three 'shot' glasses of dessert e.g. cheesecake or panacotta . Would recommend.
Lovely place to eat. It’s relaxed, friendly, the staff are attentive, and the food is great. Can’t recommend them highly enough!!Recommended dishesSlow Roast Lamb Shank Yorkshire Pudding Roast Potatoes, Roast Potatoes, Pork Belly Roast, Sticky Toffee Pudding & Ice Cream
Doorman insisted on the door being open despite the fact that everyone sat near the door were wearing their jackets. Very nice drink but left after one because too cold.
OK bar. Quite sedate atmosphere. Food over priced but looks good. Price clearly is not an obstacle to most clientele.Service: 5/5
Dogs welcome, classic feel but cleaner than most public houses. Shepherd's Pie is delicious, portions are huge, prices only slightly high, beers cold or warm as appropriate, staff is smiley and quite fetching, imo.
