Other reviews are correct. When you buy something and it’s faulty they take it in the back away from customer view and then tell you no fault found with a smirk look on his face. They do this to avoid refunding or replacing. This is exactly what happened to me also. Ripping people off in broad daylight. Reported this to trading standards. I have since showed the fault to manufacturer and they confirmed its faulty. If they do this to you make sure you ask them to prove it’s faulty because they will scam you. Use another store in future you are more protected.
This Smyth's is huge! I absolutely LOVE their squishmallow wall! Such a huge selection! I went again more recently and had a blast!
We called to smyths portrack lane stockton earlier. We were helped by a lovely woman called Sharon. She went above and beyond for us, so helpful and installed our new car seat. Excellent service!
Asked lady at counter to price an item at counter and check price of another item, as my niece has a budget of £15. She was dismissive, belittling and made me feel intrusive. Too grumpy for a toy store!
Went to Smyths yesterday to buy a Nintendo switch game for my Granddaughter as well as a couple of other presents, being unable to find the game I asked “Foxy” to assist me. He was very pleasant and helpful as was the male assistant he passed the game onto for me to buy. The shop was really busy and I was surprised at the first class customer service. Well done Smyths !
Staff are always super helpful. Always a great selection of toys available. You can order items before hand for easy collection. They even open late on the run up to Christmas.
We bought an electric scooter for my 7 year old son. It was during the raining period of summer 2023. At no point did anyone anyone at Smyth's tell us that it could only be used in dry conditions. They actually told us to have a great time on it. He didn't drive it through water simply used as all children would. After 2 days the scooter broke. Upon returning the shirt, the ship found there was water in it, the staff blamed my son and I for not reading the inspection manual. I find it appealing that they wouldn't warn the child not use it in anything other then a dry environment. Tbf they actually told us it was splash proof when we originally returned it. No my boy has a shorter that lasted him about 2 days. Horrendous shop and poor staff. I will never use this company again.

Just been round to collect a controller I bought on click and collect , I gave the GIRL my barcode and showed her the receipt and she asked for ID , I said I didn’t bring my ID and the GIRL just decided to walk away , put the controller back and started talking to someone els . No explanation no sorry I can’t give you it without ID , which I like have accepted , but no this very rude girl with the worst customer service skills ever just walked away from me like I was scum trying to scam them . So the receipt, barcode and online banking wasn’t enough to prove I payed for it . Just the most unacceptable rude person I have ever encountered , this GIRL clearly has too much power . I will not go back to this store again after the way she just walked away like I was nothing in her eyes . I would give a 0 star to be honest after that experience
