Absolutely lovely Pub. Great atmosphere throughout our stay watching a local band play.... Catch 45. The Owner and staff are very helpful and friendly, great place, we will be returning on another day for food and drinks.
Although it was a quick visit by me, our motorcycle club was made very welcome and we were allowed to park on the most level part of the tarmac car park. Fine selection of drinks and from what I heard from those who did sample the food they were very impressed. Hope to visit again soon whether it be club meet or any other reason.
Called 2 days ahead to book an evening slot...offered 7.30/7.45/8.00...all good. Booked our choice of 7.45. Arrived and told " we had you booked for 6.40..kitchen now closed. We were Not Amused!! Received a very heartfelt phone call and apology after posting this. We may try again and hope for some luck next time
Very pleasant, good meal, very nice burgers, lovely chips, and secret ribs. Beer very good indeed, long time since I've had a Badger so to speak. Pleasant bar keeps.
Our first visit to the Silver Plough and we were impressed. Beautiful building, especially if you appreciate character pubs. Decor is thoughtful and true to the setting. Lots of place to sit, comfortable and welcoming. We had lunch, a sandwich and coffee and it was very tasty. Dinner menu looked very good, we will certainly be back.
We used to use the Silve Plough regularly when we lived in Salisbury and decided to go again last bank holiday Monday. They used to do excellent, proper, home cooked pub food pies to die for and the best sticky toffee pudding we have ever had, and some days, you were lucky to get a table. Not so now. They presumably thought that bank holidays would be quiet as we were offered a very basic, almost insulting, "bank holiday menu." The outside tables were dirty, and the bin in the toilet was still full from the day before. We took the trouble to have a look at some of the latest reviews and we wished we had done this before as we wouldn't have taken the trouble to drive back there. We didn't eat and tried to get into 3 of our favourite haunts in Stockbridge on the way home, which serve excellent food every day, and we couldn't get in, not a table to spare. I think the Silver Plough needs to take a serious lesson here. Get it right, and you have a queue to your door. We won't be back, and judging by the lack of clientele on a warm sunny bank holiday, I think many people think the same.
Beyond disappointing. Sad that this used to be a wonderful place to eat but has gone down over the years. Had family visit from America and wanted to have them experience an English pub. Food was inedible with questionable looking meat. They couldn’t say where they sourced the burger meat. Worst meal I’ve had in a restaurant.Food: 1/5
A lovely traditional pub. Food and service was outstanding. Differcult to decide what to eat. Will be going back to do a couple of walk's and stop by for lunch or dinner. Definitely has got a restaurant standard chef. Loved it
Stopped here for the first time for some lunch on my birthday as we were in the area. We hadn’t booked but managed to get a table and the staff were really lovely and welcoming! My husband ordered a beetroot and goats cheese sandwich and loved it. I ordered tomato and mozzarella arancini however I wasn’t too keen, not much flavour but I can be fussy as it was cooked well. Chips however were superb! : we tried a very nice local beer called Forum as well. Nice vintage inn vibe and atmosphere would definitely return.
Roses are red, Violets are blue, The Silver Plough loves Halloumi, No regular fries for you. Beautiful pub, hearty ale and huge portions of fried cheese are served in this quant village in the heart of Wiltshire. I’d recommend it to anyone!
