Warm, friendly and oh so pretty. We stayed at The Compasses Inn with our dog. A very dog friendly place, he was given lots of treats and a towel to clean his paws which was appreciated by us . The Inn is a historic building, 14 century, beautifully restored. The food in the Inn was so good! Definitely recommend booking in advance which we did, this pub is clearly a local favourite with lots of families coming for dinner. Great selection of ales and wines. The room was really comfy, had everything you could want, including fresh milk. The bathroom looked new and modern and the shower was powerful. There is parking available opposite the Inn.
A beautiful little pub! I was here for a baby shower get together and we had lunch with drinks. The food was absolutely excellent, so so tasty and very reasonably priced for the quality. The decor is lovely, very cute and old fashioned. It's very out of the way for me sadly, but if I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely go back. Yhe staff are lovely as well.
A hidden gem! Really and I mean really good food with an imaginative menu and a great wine list. A proper pub that hasn’t been messed around with, dog friendly and charming staff. There’s some lovely walks on their doorstep to walk off your lunch! We’re not that local but like to support small businesses like this who really need it at the moment.
Our favourite pub! Hands down the BEST food, service and pub experience. Beautiful inside and out… we wish we lived further but an hours drive is so worth it. You won’t be disappointed!
Well worth a detour to visit, the Compasses Inn is everything you'd hope for in a country pub in England. I've been there for lunch a few times and have stayed overnight in one of their sweet little rooms. The food is delicious, the fire and the welcome warm. You just wish time would stop so you can remain cosy and pleasantly full in one of their dining nooks! Lovely place.
We stayed in the cottage earlier this year, but sadly I run out of time to write a review on Airbnb. We had an amazing time with my friends in that magical little cottage, I highly recommend it! Also, we had a dinner in the restaurant, which was exceptional. Thank you Ben for our lovely stay!
Gorgeous pub with lovely owner. Has a great outdoor space. The Sunday roast was phenomenal. My friends said it was the best pork belly they’d ever had.
Had a wonderful stay here and the dinner out in the pub garden during the summer was not only a stunning view the food was excellent. Staff were friendly and welcoming and we loved the breakfast the next day. A great stop over when driving from London to Devon
The best pub around these parts which I visited many many times when I lived locally. It has very traditional cosy setting with delicious and definitely better food than your standard local pub. They have good selection of beers and spirits. You should definitely visit if you have not already!Service: 5/5
A fabulous pub, well worth a detour. Superb food, stunning countryside setting and outdoor seating area. A traditional local pub, well run that is a destination in its own right. You absolutely have to visit!
