I have tried on numerous occasions to contact this organisation, to no avail. The only reason I have gave two stars is I have not spoken to a single person who can help. It is supposed to be a service that helps desperate people who are in housing crisis, no good when you cannot speak to a person. We have been down every avenue and contacted Shelter as a last resort....disappointed is not the word!! Who do people in desperate housing need go to for help? The housing in this country is a national disgrace.
Yesterday I met Laura Team Leader in Uttoxeter High Street. I was very impressed with her motivation and commitment to the ethos of Shelter. She was able to answer all my questions and completely convinced me that this was a charity worth supporting. Although I told her at the beginning of our conversation, that I was not in a position to commit to a direct debit donation at this time having already made all the charity donations I can afford this year I did promise that I would make a one-off donation which I have done today and that I would prioritise Shelter for next year.
Brilliant solicitor Kate & Advisor Dave. I couldn't thank them enough for the support. My case was won & the care afterwards was fantastic.
One of the worst services that they do not listen to and do not understand your situation, what they focus on is one thing and you feel disrespect. Especially the gentleman who works there, he has no support from him, they are wasting money for charities and governments, saying that they will help vulnerable people ...... they do not help at all !!!
Rubbish service, didn't want to help even though I explained my situation. All I got is we can't help come back after Easter. If you go in looking clean forget it. They expect just because you've got no where properly to live your gona be scruffy or a drug addict. Needs to be shut down.
An excellent service for people with housing issues. They are kind, understanding and extremely competent. Brilliant solicitors.
They just help who they want to help, not who really needs help for housing problems
Perhaps the nastiest bunch of people I've met in my life. The charity is just another form of big business, with the same cold cooperate mentality.
Very disappointed I was taking a landlord to court for wrongful eviction ,was told I’ll get legal aid,I told them if I have mental health problems, social anxiety, suicidle, self harming paranoia etc etc,I told them I was too ill to attend court, they said if you don’t attend court and They loose I’ll have to pay shelter for the costs for waisting there time,my mental health is due to eviction,SHOCKING!!!!!
Will get you in. Sign you up for legal aid and then tell you they can't help you. And you can't get help from anywhere else because of the way legal aid works.
