Set up to investigate the role between Faith and Politics in Britain.
Since September 2012, the Manchester Universities Catholic Chaplaincy, open to UoM, MMU and RNCM Students, has been organising a Faith and Politics Society.
The aim of our society is to explore the state of the relationship between faith and politics in Britain today and question how this can be improved.
So far we have had has several big political names come to speak about the interaction of Faith and Politics. These include: Andy Burnham MP, Jim Murphy MP, Ivan Lewis MP, Jeremy Lefroy MP, Paul Goggins MP and many more.
We have also had non-MP speakers, such as Christopher Lamb (the assistant editor of The Tablet) and John Battle (a former MP and recipient of the Order of St Gregory).
Recently we have also had an event focusing on the legacy of Pope Benedict's teaching in 'Caritas in Veritate' and its implications for Catholic Social Teaching
We have invited even more speakers for the rest of the academic year and even into next year and will also be holding our own events to discuss some of the many ideas that have come up in our discussions!
