I went to register my baby birth, it was completed in less than 10 minutes of time. Friendly staff and approachable. You can book appointments online for a particular time slot and it saves you a lot of time. This palace has toilets with baby nappy changing facilities and disabled friendly entrances. This palace doesn't have a dedicated parking facilities for visitors.
After pointing out my dob was incorrect at my meeting to give notice of marriage, correcting the date myself and initialling the date at this meeting, they still uploaded the wrong date of birth into the system. Resulting in the wrong information on my marriage certificate, to which they are claimed it’s my responsibility to pay to correct despite admitting fault. Quote “It should have been checked before uploading onto the system but this piece of paper was on the bottom of the pile, so wasn’t checked”. Very concerning that their job is to check your prescribed evidence for a legal document, which clearly wasn’t carried out to the standard it should’ve been, then when pointed out information is incorrect they still don’t rectify it.
Took an absolute age to book a registrar for our wedding. No one answered their phones and they took ages to respond to emails. My marriage certificate recently came through, crumpled up and in an open envelope. When you pay £500+ for a service you expect better. This department really needs an overhaul. We had to give notice at Doncaster Council as that is where we live and they were a million times easier to deal with. Have a look at Doncaster Register office google reviews and take note Sheffield. I will say the registers on the wedding day were lovely though.
I'd give this service no stars if it was possible. After waiting for a telephone appointment that never happened I received a vague email telling me something I've already done. Then spent 45 minutes waiting to get through on the phone which was no help whatsoever. Why do you make is so different to get a death certificate at the worst time for people. Completely inadequate and not fit for purpose. And then the council has the cheek to rise tax.
Really disappointed by the service offered here. For our wedding we used their online forms to try and book an appointment, this did not work and left us close to missing the required deadlines to be married. The process involves a telephone interview and then a face-to-face meeting the following day which is annoying if you have job that can't be interrupted whenever they feel like calling. We're now trying to register a birth for which I booked a phone call for 1 hour and 15 minutes ago, still haven't heard from them. Still a two meeting process.
I could scream! How can a bunch of people be so incompetent? I have been emailing them apparently they don't answer the phone for 3 weeks to try and arrange a suitable date for a registrar for our wedding... They are making the whole thing a nightmare. It takes them nearly a week to reply with an email that isn't even providing info on the requested dates. Then someone else responded to the same email telling me something totally different to what the original reply said! After painstakingly emailing over and over and over, I eventually agreed a date that was available with them and our wedding venue... So of course the next day they sent a "confirmation" email with a totally different date!! Seriously this is so stressful. I don't even know how they manage to make this process so difficult. I just want to ring someone, ask what dates are available then book and confirm a date so that we can plan our wedding day... Good luck if you're getting married in Sheffield, these clowns will give you the run around until you're about to pull your hair out! I wish we were getting married in Leeds, might be able to book a registrar without this much stress and hassle!
Absolutely laughable. Sent off for marriage certificates 10 weeks ago, they have only just arrived. Office that processes them doesn't have a phone. They don't respond to emails. My husband finally managed to speak to someone, to be told they hadn't got our payment and that we needed to pay again. 10 mins later emailed him to say we had paid. Don't know their arse from their elbow, phoned them today and the lady I spoke to said she had no recollection of speaking to my husband, despite telling him a few days ago our certificates were marked as urgent! They "speak to a lot of people" apparently, avoid like the plague.
Does not even deserve a 1 star for the service they provide! Booked a registrar really easily in 2020 for a wedding in 2021 via the online system. Then had to postpone due to covid restrictions and our venue choosing not to hold any weddings. Trying to get hold of the registry office is near enough impossible and trying to make contact with an actual human being does not exist. Finally managed to change our date and got married 19.03.22 after weeks/months of emails but then no further confirmation or further instruction about what would happen at the ceremony etc. I hadn’t been married before so had no idea what to expect and it was only speaking to work colleagues I knew what to expect and what I should be receiving. After weeks of emails and a call that finally went through to someone to be told you will decide 15 minutes before you get married what is going to happen is disgusting and very destressing. There was a lot of unnecessary stress caused on the run up to wedding and now there has been a typing error on our marriage certificate and I cannot contact anyone. Sent email after email and finally spoke to someone from the council not registry office to be told it’s only via email. What a joke! Really quick to take your money but offer a disappointing service. Would not recommend at all using Sheffield city council.
HORRIFIC!!!! an absolute joke. Been trying to call for 4 days - one of those days came to a total of 4hours on hold. UNREAL!! What sort of staff are employed here? the ringing noise does actually mean someone is on the other end of the phone! Paid a deposit for a registrar with no confirmation or anything. I've emailed twice - no response. Never been married before so I have no idea what steps are next. As I am typing this review that doesn't deserve a 1 star I have currently been on hold 2hours 15mins, lets see if I actually get through today!! Get real, right?! Sheffield Council - HIRE STAFF THAT KNOW HOW TO PICK UP THE PHONE!!!!!!!!! If only I read these reviews before booking a venue in Sheffield, i really wouldn't have bothered!!
MASSIVE SHOUT OUT TO LISA RIX*** In the marrages department. Lisa has gone above and beyond for me since I first spoke to her regarding my marriage certificate, she kindly found out my age ,and year as ide forgot the exact year ,was so professional but so kind and patient as well ,you can tell Lisa puts 100% into everyone she speaks to Even 2 days later I had a problem with the link and I got Lisa again ,she stayed on the phone to me to show me how to do it talked me through everything, listened to me going on and had a laugh Lovely person , It was so nice to get through to a genuine person happy to help I hope Sheffield Registry office gives Lisa the recognition she deserves . Thankyou so much
