Our branch of Centro Cultural Senzala de Capoeira was formed by Mestre Peixinho and his students.In London, our teacher is Mestre Julio Sanhaço, a red belt student of the great Mestre Peixinho. He’s part of Grupo Senzala from Rio de Janeiro and has been teaching in London for over 20 years.The group seeks to continue to develop the good work of Group Senzala in a physical sense, and emphasises developing an understanding of the cultural roots and origins of capoeira in order to help the student capoeirista develop a greater understanding of the game as a whole.Tuesday & Saturday class in The Upper Room, Thursdays in Cecil Sharp House."

Julio Mestre Sanhaço is a warm teacher, encourages everyone to move, feel confident in their body, and have fun. I always leave with a smile and feel replenished with fresh energy and connection!
Best place to get fit while having fun. The group is super friendly, and the teacher Julio Mestre Sanhaço is very patient and welcoming. It was the first capoeira group I tried in London and I didn't feel the need to look further
Mestre Julio is an incredible teacher and a true master of capoeira. He's patient, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to help his students improve. Even when faced with the challenges of the pandemic, he found ways to adapt and make sure that everyone could continue training safely. The community at Senzala London is also fantastic. It's a great group of people who are all passionate about capoeira and who support each other in their journey. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced capoeirista, you'll find a welcoming and supportive environment at Senzala London. I love training with Senzala London!!! Everyone is very friendly, and welcoming. This extremely supportive environment is perfect for learning new skills acrobatics, kicks, music and more..., enjoying a great workout and having fun.
After coming back from training Capoeira in Brazil for 6 months, I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to find quality Capoeira in London. Having come here to Senzala at the beginning of this year however, my worries were banished! Mestre Sanhaço is an excellent teacher who is kind, knowledgeable, funny, serious and playful all at the same time. The other students are very welcoming and friendly, and having been a part of Parkour circles, BJJ, Muay Thai and other movement practices, I have never come across as wonderful a community as this one. Whether you're a beginner interested in trying the art, or an experienced Capoerista, Senzala London I believe will offer you more than you could hope for. Much Love!
Myself & my 8 year old son have been attending the classes for few years now & it has been great addition to our weekly routine! Wish could do it more though! Lovely people, great teachers, supper supportive Maestre Julio Sanhaco & the best workout still feel my muscles after Saturday class! Definitely worth recomending for both kids & adults!
Mestre Sanhaço has a great energy and Axé! This reflects on the awesome vibe of the group and individuals. Kids, adults and anyone with no particular skills or experience will surely feel welcome and learn nice tricks, varied instruments and singing!
