Reviews
Hello Selina Margate Management,nnI am having to leave this review as nobody has replied to my email and it is shocking how we have been treated as guests.nnMy stay at Selina Margate was utterly devastating. We paid almost £500 for a ‘deluxe’ experience that did not even meet the standards of a basic hotel stay. It is staggering how misleading the advertisement is, and far worse the lack of basic necessities that would have made our stay in your hotel inclusive, comfortable and respectable for us all.nnFirstly, the lift was out of service during our stay, which was devastating and appalling. I have an injured leg and our room was on the very top floor. Everytime I left the room or returned back to it, the many stairs caused severe aches and pains. How do you honestly expect access visitors or elderly visitors to do that many stairs throughout their stay with no lift access? It was horrible. A lift is crucial for many, and should be fixed immediately. Whilst the receptionist was lovely and kind, it was a difficult position to be put in - and I had no idea the many levels of stairs would cause irritation into my leg until I returned home with my leg having worsened than it was when I departed. Accessibility should be a priority for a hotel, particularly with the architectural structure. I also would have appreciated to be told of the lift being out of service ahead of my stay, so that I could make a informed choice about staying there as a Access visitor, and instead not have to subjected to the burden and further injury due to the hotels circumstances.nnSecondly on our last day, the shower in our room malfunctioned, causing further delays in our schedule and barely being able to have an adequate hygienic shower. Considering we stayed at Selina for two nights in a deluxe room, it is unacceptable that this occurred. It totals to a loss of service for essentially 50% if our stay, and essentially over £200 a night for a room we couldn’t even shower in. We paid for a deluxe room with deluxe services. Yet we were left with operations below basic.nnFurthermore, I found the size of the room to be shameful for a premium ‘Deluxe’. The photographs on the Booking.com make the room seem far bigger and the ad even appeared to advertise with pictures of the other Selina branch in Brighton, which is incredibly misleading and essentially false advertisement. We booked expecting to have a room, experience and features shown on the booking, only to find out these were amenities of the Selina Brighton, a completely different branch.nnFinally the breakfast provided was disgraceful. Food cold and overpriced, with virtually two or three options and a mere one if you’re vegan. At a cost of £20 per a person per a night it feels like a scam. I urge you to be more transparent in your facilities and prices regarding the Breakfast you cater, and realistic on the service which you provide, in addition to a price that is reflective of this.nnOverall, we feel incredibly misled and dismissed by the entire experience, and advocate that we deserved better value, facilities and care for the price paid.nnWe are sad to have to leave a review, however Selina has not replied to any of our emails, and as such we hope that from this review they can see how much discomfort and disappointment they have caused us.
I live in Plymouth had to drive to Margate urgently. Selina hotel was the only place we could find for one night, afters sitting at a hospital bedside for two days, we were grateful to get our heads down, the receptionist told us we've been upgraded, I just hate to think what the that room was like we we're going to have, the room we got was filthy dirty, shower cubicle was black mould, plughole was black mouldy with hair, this has been my worst experience ever. I'm sorry but I cannot recommend anyone to stay here.
Lovely room overlooking the sea and friendly staff. This little gem is located within easy walk of the beach and town centre is perfectly located for a trip to Margate. The pricing algorithm is a little odd, don't take the breakfast inclusive rate as it's much cheaper just to buy the breakfast in the hotel if you want one, or visit other local places, there are tons of them. I'd definitely go back with my dogs who were made very welcome by Claire and Mariya, the lovely hotel reception staff who couldn't do enough for us to make our stay comfortable..
Perfect place to stay in. The lady on reception is so humble and welcoming. She updated my room on last moment. The location is excellent. Room and toilet is clean and upto the mark. Sitting area is amazing on the reception. My overall experience has been very positive. Highly recommended
The hotel was great. Easy ocean front location, short walk from cafes and supermarkets. Staff are lovely and helpful. There is a cafe and outdoor area and every is Reasonable priced.nnThe only couple of things worth noting: depending on your room ours sea view and the time of year, the sun can rise very very early and our window had large gaps between curtains so we were flooded with light at 5am. And there are a pose of pigeons set up on some of the windowsills, so that can be a bother if you want to open the windows up a bit.nnAlso, the shower ran a little low/ intermittent pressure and temperature but that might just be dependent on capacity and time of year.nJust some things to keep in mind when booking :
