Went for a Christmas meal. Hosts are wonderful - every single staff member was incredibly welcoming. Food was utterly fantastic - better than most expensive restaurant meals I've visited in the last few years. Still thinking about the lemon posset which was fantastic, but I couldn't finish it all because the portions were so generous! Sparkling clean; ladies loos were unexpectedly modern, fresh and had lovely, thoughtful touches. I rarely leave reviews, but this place is special. Phone ahead to check food offer is on as they seem to have rare 'down-times' on the food offer depending on the chef rotations, in the same way as a pop-up restaurant might. IMHO I think this makes it more special.
Country pub taken over by the community. Good for them for preserving the village local. Has an ale on. Large outside area. Hosts several events such as live music, open mic and a quiz throughout the month. Has a games room with pool and darts. Recommended
My comments below are no longer valid as the owners cooks are totally different people now so building and gardens will be same real nice but as to food then you will have to read more up to date reviews please.nnOriginal comments for the previous staff and cooks. .....nGreat staff. Tremendous food all fresh not frozen. Good clean eating and bar areas even the kitchens are exceptionally clean and tidy. Good play area outside for little people with seating areas for the older ones. You have to try specials board.
A warm welcome physically as the log fire was burning on a cold winter afternoon! but also the staff* and locals were friendly too. We were staying nearby and this pub was in walking distance. We’d just gone in for a drink but saw the food and looked at the menu and ordered - we were not disappointed. Food portions are big and tasty. Vegan and gluten free options. There are takeout options too. Really reasonable prices too.nn*We learnt the pub is run by members of the community, so they didn’t lose it. So all help out in to keep it going.nnIt’s a lovely relaxed feel and a good-sized pub with different areas. Also has dart board, pool table and good beer garden in sunny weather.nnWe will return and I wish the community good luck, such a great idea.
