Fancied a night away as a couple and booked the Castle Hotel. What a little gem of a Wetherspoons, lovely room spot on service and quality food at a reasonable price along with good beer and wine. We were so chilled we never went for a walk to try other pubs in the town…. Will be definitely staying here again.
Good food for not outrageous money. In a really good location if you're exploring Ruthin, you'll never be more than 5 minutes walk away. 'Spoons aren't highbrow so don't be expecting fancy but if you want a tasty bite without breaking the bank they tick the box. Was clean tidy and not too crowded for lunch.
We had a lovely room, but had to ask for clean towels as the sign on room door was turned around after we left for the day so they didn't replenish the hot drinks either. They were extremely busy in the restaurant and bar and short staffed. Not good for the start of the summer holidays.
This is a place of give and take:nIt's a lovely old building - so it squeaks and creaks quite a lot of steps toonYou're obviously above a Spoons so its great for food and drinks - there's some pub noisenGreat price - I had a single bed and a fairly tight shower.nIt's in a beautiful town that's well worth a wander about and great location for exploring Wales.nStaff always good and bargain evening meal, drinks and breakfast. Will be back
We love the castle,come 3/4 times a year,great ambience fab rooms,delightful lady on reception we usually see. Ruthin is a lovely place to visit. We always go across the square to the wine vaults, so friendly always chat to the locals.
